"Pfft, you're not even trying!" Your girlfriend giggled in that signature way that she always did.
"If I might hazard a guess?" Dr Terrific's head floated over, impossibly supported by a long and stretchy neck. "It's been a few years since she passed, but your features strike me like the memory of a longtime friend: 'Eve, Daughter of Eve'"
Your girlfriend nodded and smiled, "Yep! I was a huge fan of her. Even got her autograph! I keep it safe in my uh... underwear drawer." She leaned closer and whispered, "She signed my panties."
You'd never heard of 'Eve, Daughter of Eve' before, but you had encountered a pair of panties in your girlfriend's underwear drawer that were "strictly off limits for nostalgic reasons" and kept within a protective container. Almost like a collectible.
"Oooh, how appropriate!" Dr Terrific laughed and glanced over to the chamber which was still swirling with fog. "But thanks for confirming, I was worried the costumizer had gotten stuck. Just give it a minute or two to finish manifesting your powers."
The mention of powers snapped you out of your preoccupied state. "Powers? You got powers?"
She shrugged, "I guess so? Wasn't expecting powers, I'm just a big fangirl plus..."
"Of course she's getting Eve's powers!" Dr. Terrific energetically injected. "So few people seem to remember that Eve even existed, let alone what she was capable of. I was lucky enough to have a sample of Eve's blood from just before the Crisis of the Caldera. Obviously it hasn't been used before, but it should yield a full transference."
"What kind of powers does ..." Your brain ground to a halt as you tried to speak your girlfriend's name. But it simply wasn't coming out. Your brain span desperately trying to recall the name of the girl you love. A name that any other moment was always at the top of your tongue.
The only name you could recall was 'Eve'. But that wasn't your girlfriend's name, her name was Eve. No, it was Eve. Wait... Wasn't it Eve? Eve would be super upset if you got her name wrong. But she wouldn't be upset because her name is 'Eve, Daughter of Eve'. Or 'Eve' for short, as she preferred.
"Babe? You okay?" asked Eve. You weakly nodded. Your brain felt like it had been diced into bouillon cubes, boiled, strained, extruded in the shape of the alphabet noodles, sauteed, roughly processed in a meat grinder, packaged in a sausage casing and finally lightly seasoned before being fed to a field of ravenous squirrels.
"Yeah, just... Just tired of a sudden. And something of a headache."
"Oh, don't worry about that! That's just a side effect of Eve's powers, especially for someone so closely related. Should go away pretty soon." Dr Terrific rapidly injected. Her focus rapidly shifted between you and Eve, and the costumizer's control panel. Another microwave-esque ding punctuated the air.
"Whoa..." Eve mumbled as her gaze slid off your face and her eyes unfocused, only to momentarily snap back to your eyes then unfocus again.
Dr Terrific grabbed you by the arm and like a retracting spring swiftly pulled you over to the chamber. She stopped a couple feet short of the door itself and her noodle-neck elevated noggin whispered to you, "You're lucky. Treat Eve well." Then, speaking at normal volume she turned to the chamber, "Well, why don't you show us your power, Eve?"
You glanced back at your girlfriend who grinned and pointed at the chamber. Turning back to the chamber you were surprised to see a woman, identical in every way to Eve, step out of it. "Hi babe. I'm Eve, Daughter of Eve!"
