*Alternate version focused on masculinity and adulthood*
Jeff instinctually knew what he wanted, though that in and of itself gave him pause. He wanted to be more masculine, why? So his masculinity wouldn't be constantly questioned and challenged by his peers simply for not caring about sports or obsessing over his physique. He wanted to explore things for himself and not be looked at as a stupid child, but why? Because as little as, what, 4 - 6 years ago he believed in Santa and magic, holding out hope that there was a good power shaping the world. Naïve? Maybe. But trusting those who feed him, support him, teach him how the world works, and want him to succeed isn't considered dumb except surrounding holidays and belief in their characters...
Is he "growing up" right? Is he "on track" to become a "good" man? What will he be like? What should he be like? How will the horror show that is high school end and what will become of him? He is 2 years from full blown adulthood, what does a plan look like?
Jeff snapped out of the daze he had been in, it may have been a few seconds of staring into space, or 45 minutes. He could... Yes, he could relinquish control... but should he? Could he bring himself to? Does he really want to?
The package before him allowed him to modify his parents' perspective. It was actually very easy to set up, with a few keystrokes he could make them aware of the Chronivac and all it's capabilities, another could implant the ideas that, "Your son needs to become a masculine adult and the sooner he experiences all adulthood has to offer, the sooner he will stabilize." deep into their subconscious. Jeff pondered this, biting his lower lip... Will he feel better about his masculinity by turning it over to his parents to mitigate and micromanage his body, choices, and possibly even his personality? Does he trust them?
Does he trust them? So poignant. Are they more concerned about how his actions reflect on them or his ability to successfully navigate society? "Yes. I trust them." He eventually concluded. "This will be... fun." he hesitated, it was nerve wracking... He did go back and add the idea that, "The Chronivac is excellent at correcting children who aren't meeting expectations." to the other ideas he was implanting.
Jeff locked in his changes and made it so that even if his parents find what he did to them, they will see it as "One of the smarter choices he made."
