"You know... You were always kind of a jerk to me." Emily mused, spinning idly in her desk chair. "My friends' big brothers are pretty nice to them. I told my friends everything you did to me you know? We used to say that it was because you were jealous of us. Is that true? Oh, and since you never lie to your sister, I can trust you to answer truthfully, yeah? " She smirks.
You are about to deflect the question with sarcasm or humor, but something wells inside you that makes you want to do otherwise. After all, why would you ever lie to your sister? You're still annoyed by her question, and would rather not answer, but instead, you sigh and plunge your hands in your pockets. "It's not that I was jealous, really... More like, bitter, maybe?" you feel yourself blushing as the words keep coming out. This was much more truth than you admitted to even yourself, and you were spilling it all out without hesitation. And to your bratty little sister no less!
"Whenever I looked at you with your friends you were all so... Close and kind to each other. It made me sick to see!" you grit your teeth in anger. "I was never that close with any of my friends, or was shown that kind of kindness. I hated to see you have all that. I wanted the same and, I guess, my only response to it was to tease and bully you?" you scoff bitterly. "I guess in my mind, that was the only to prove that even though you had a better life and better friends than I did, if I could make you sad or angry, than I was still better than you in some way. It was... Comforting I guess."
Emily looks at you with wide eyes and mouth agape. "Wow..." she said after a long moment of silence. "Didn't think you'd be so... Direct."
There seems to be a flicker of compassion in her eyes for an instant. But only for an instant. "Wish you would have worked through those feelings earlier instead of taking it out on me. You should have been a man, a good brother who protected me instead of humiliating me."
A thin smile stretches her lips as she crosses her lips, a mischievous twinkle in her stare. "In fact, I think it's time for you to experience this yourself! Let's see how YOU deal with being humiliated and teased by your sibling while you're at your most helpless and vulnerable!"
She stands up and you take a step back instinctively. "Emily, please, you don't have to do anything. Look... I promise I'll never tease or bully you again."
She nods, grinning. "You're right. Because after this, you'll never be able to!"
