Emily lunges at the Veil you held tentalizingly close to her, tempting her with how close it was...
Luckily, you're faster. With a swift motion, you press the palm of your other hand against her forehead, keeping her at arm's length while she flailed, trying to push you away to reach the Veil. "Man, you're pretty obsessed with this Veil thing. It's kinda funny seeing you try so hard. But since you're such a baby about it, maybe I'll give it back to you if you beg nicely." You scoff
Emily's eyes glaze over for a second and her desperate attempts to try to grab it from you become... Strangely uncoordinated.
" Ma.... Ma wanna... Abba vvvvel... Pwease? " the childish babble that comes out of her mouth seems to surprise her as much as it does you.
"Uh... What was that?" you ask, genuinely curious.
Emily stomps her foot petulantly. "A wanna... Gim Eemwy! Gim Eemwy!" she sputters incoherently, soon sticking her thumb in her mouth and suckling at it angrily.
Your eyes go wide. "Eemwy" was the name she called herself as a toddler, and she now seemed incapable of speaking better than she did then. Was it because you said she was such a baby about it?
No... It couldn't be. At least, you weren't ready to believe that without some more proof.
Holding the Veil firmly in your hand, you stared at her, playing with her hair idly, babbling like a silly little girl on the floor of her room. "Emily, listen to me carefully: You no longer care about the Veil. Oh uh... And you're not a baby. "
The same glazed look goes over her eyes and she removes her thumb from her mouth. "I mean, I don't know why you say that I'm not a baby. You're right though, I don't really care about that thing, you can have it if you want. I tried it earlier to change my grade to 100% online and it worked, so... it's pretty neat, but I did what I wanted with it." She shrug." So I don't want it anymore. Have fun I guess. "
You looked at the Veil, wide eyed, trying to come to terms with the fact that this thing truly did rewrite reality. It made your sister act like a baby, and then lost all interest for it.
This thing, if you were careful, could be the key to all of your wildest dreams. You just needed to be careful about what you said and how, and things should go smoothly for you.
