I continued my arduous journey into this godforsaken forest. This was probably the longest I've walked my entire life! Fuck! My legs were sore, and my clothes were drenched in sweat. I don't care if somebody saw me or my flat and pasty torso. I removed my T-shirt and wrapped it around my head to contain the rain of sweat. I continued my journey, and hopefully, I'd find a source of water or food.
"Holy shit! This is exhausting," I groaned. I looked at the sky and gave the fucker above the middle finger for placing me in the middle of nowhere. Was my struggle entertaining enough, fucker!? I expected a reply, but that would be less annoying than the silence I got after. I've already died once, and I don't want to fucking experience it again. I gathered my bearings and pushed, despite the complaints of my aching and untrained body.
While on top of a hill with towering trees, I saw movements on the foothill. It wasn't a critter, a bird, or a deer. I vaguely saw the shadow of a person rummaging through the bushes and undergrowth. I followed the figure but kept my distance since I didn't know if it was safe. I was eager to find civilization but restrained myself since I didn't want to meet an untimely death for the second time.
I drew closer and realized it was a boy, probably between eight and twelve. I don't know! Maybe, he was older. I'm really bad at picking out ages. He has brown-trimmed hair and eyes that glowed golden under the shadows of the trees above. He moved from one bush to another, picking out the leaves and fruits and placing them on a wicker basket on his lap. He inspected the leaves with the utmost focus I'd usually find from my intelligent classmates. He nicked the leaf tips with his mouth and tasted them, likely choosing out the plants that simple observation could not pick.
