Caleb furrowed his brow, listening as the voice continued to move closer. "Whatever you do don't make any moves towards the voice or respond," he said.
The others nodded, slowly inching backwards as they gazed out into the forest. Despite the sunlight, the woods before them were cast in shadow. Straining his eyes, Caleb could barely make out a deformed figure slowly slinking towards them. "How big is it," Miles asked.
"Big enough," Caleb grumbled, the hunter now leveling his pistol towards the woods. "Everyone stay close, we might have to move quickly if this thing rushes us." Caleb now tossed a clip of ammo towards Dave, telling the agent to load his weapon and fire when he did. Meanwhile Miles and Chenoa glanced behind them, the hunter in training looking for an escape route if Caleb told them to run.
Spark now paused, furrowing her brow in confusion. She had heard a voice behind them. Although the fairy was now assisting her partner, she was listening to see if anyone else was around. That was when she heard a familiar voice calling her name. "Connor?"
Spark now moved behind Caleb, trying to see where her beloved Connor was. The forest was too thick for her to get a clear picture but, she was certain she had heard him. "What is it Spark," Caleb asked.
"I heard Connor," she said. Caleb now paused listening closely. Much to his surprise he now heard his younger brother calling out to them. "I think he's in trouble," Spark said quickly. "We should go help him." Spark now shrank down to fairy size, her skin turning an emerald green as gossamer wings protruded from her back. As the fairy now tried to leave, Caleb seized her holding the fairy tightly in his hand.
"What the hell are you doing," Spark exclaimed. "Let go! Connors in danger!" Caleb said nothing, listening to his brothers voice carefully. It certainly sounded like his brother but something seemed off. Connor wouldn't call out like that knowing what they were facing.
"Shit."
The young hunter now quickly holstered his weapon, reaching into his leather duster and producing a sawed off shotgun. "Miles," he said, tossing the weapon to him. "You ever shot one of these before?'
Miles gazed down at the shotgun, his eyes bugging out of his head. "Um no I've only ever fired a B.B. gun." Caleb now quickly went to the teen, showing him how to cock the double barrel shotgun and hold it. "Just point and pull the trigger," he said. "You get two shots with it. I loaded it with rock salt so it won't kill it but it will definitely incapacitate it long enough to get away."
"Caleb what's going on," Spark exclaimed. "Connors calling for help. We need to go!"
"That's not Connor Spark," Caleb replied. "Think for a second? Whatever it is keeps repeating the same line and we both know my brother wouldn't be screaming like that knowing what we're dealing with." Spark frowned, her instincts told her Connor was in trouble. As she took a moment to think and listen her eyes began to grow wide in fright. "Oh shit there's two of them."
"Dave," Caleb called. "Did you get in touch with the others?" Dave nodded, both groups were enroute and should be arriving in 15 minutes. "Tell them to pick up the pace," Caleb stated, unholstering both his pistols. "We've got two skinwalkerz we're dealing with."
Caleb and the others now formed into a tight circle, their eyes trained on the forest around them. Hopefully backup would arrive before these things attacked.
