Lucifer stormed into Nergal's office. For something this important, he'd elected to show up in person. "Nergal, we need to talk," he said, trying to remain calm. "You and I both know that the submitting of this bill was about more than you and Laz trying to be helpful to Lamashtu. I demand the true motive!"
"Very well," Nergal smiled. "You need to know this anyway. I believe that Beelzebub has sent agents to covertly manipulate the human-born to turn against your rule and form Chaos cults in secret. I'm trying to freeze these cults out of power."
"We can't pass laws based on conspiracy theories!" Lucifer thundered. "Even if your intentions are good, they'll lead to disaster! There will be uprisings, civil war! The human born will revolt against us, and their demon-born friends and family will join them!"
"Chaos assaulting Hell would be a worse fate," Nergal countered. "We must stick to this course. Besides, it's far too late to turn back now. Decree 13666 is the law of the land. Marriages are already being nullified, offices vacated, and property seized."
"I'll use my veto power!" Lucifer threatened.
"You'll want to reread the rules on that veto power," Nergal laughed. "You'll recall that a veto is declared through joint decision of the King (that's obviously you) and the Grand Chancellor... who is me. It's somewhat traditional for the Grand Chancellor to just go along with the King's will in these matters, yes, but I believe that this law is important to our national security. So, no luck. I'm not helping you veto Decree 13666."
Lucifer was fuming. "If you value your job..."
"It's also illegal to remove a Grand Chancellor for any reason other than treason or other high crimes," Nergal interrupted.
"Very well," Lucifer grumbled. "But I will speak with God about this! I'm sure He'll have some thoughts about what the peace treaty says about your little law."

Commander Baal was awakened to a loud knock on his door. He stumbled out of bed and opened the door to reveal Prince Enoch, Princess Alecto, Princess Lamashtu, and Lord Svadilfari. "What is it?" the Commander-in-Chief grumbled. "Can't a demon who was just released from the healing temple be allowed to sleep?"
"This is an emergency!" said Enoch. "Loki, Jahi, Pazuzu, and others are missing! We need your help to get them back!"
"Sounds important," Baal said as he strapped weapons onto his toad-like body. "Any idea where they've been taken?"
"No clue," groaned Alecto. "We just know that sorcerers portalled in and took them."
"If it's sorcerers, then you might want to look in the Sihr desert in the Second Circle," proposed Baal. "Magical energy is strong there."
"Good thinking!" said Enoch. "I knew your strategic mind would have an idea!"
Suddenly, they noticed a commotion in the street. Alecto portalled down into the city square to find out what the fuss was about. "You!" she shouted to a random demon. "Why all this commotion?"
"There's been a law, General!" he responded. "Your sister submitted a law that almost entirely freezes most ex-humans out of society! A lot of us are furious and won't take it!"
Alecto portalled into Baal's sleeping chamber. "Lamashtu! That law you wrote! Someone got it passed!"
"WHAT?!!" Lamashtu gasped. "Ugh! Can you imagine what Tenebra and Atargatis must think of me?!"
"And what it will do to Hell," Enoch groaned. "I'll have a lot to take care of when I get back. But we have family to rescue right now." With that, Enoch portalled himself, Alecto, Baal, and Lamashtu to the Second Circle.
