A frown darkened the face of Louis-Gaston de Saint-Georges. Like all former humans, he had an official demonic name, but he never used it. He was proud of his past as a French nobleman. It had taken a lot of skill on his wife Sitri's part to fake his death at the guillotine, but it had worked. Since then, he had served as an officer in the navy under Archduke Leviathan, as well as holding the title of Baron of Dysnomia. As of today, he was discharged from the navy, his barony was given to some arrogant bitch named Senator Gemyem Sandstorm, and his marriage to his wife was downgraded to the status of slave-husband.
Louis-Gaston stroked his stag antlers thoughtfully as he sat in the cafe, surrounded by other disgruntled firebrands. His wife Sitri glanced at him, her leopard face steely with determination as her griffon wings fluttered with anger. Louis-Gaston almost had to laugh at the absurdity of his situation. As a human, he had been a victim of a revolution. Now he was about to start one. Well, no matter. It was time to address the crowd.
The stag demon leaped onto his table. "Citizens of Hell! Remember always that you ARE citizens of Hell, just as good as any other! Unfortunately, the bastards and bitches of House Morningstar do not seem to understand this! As you all know, Princess Lamashtu Morningstar has written and pushed through a law that would make beggars and slaves of us all! Well, I refuse to be Lamashtu's good little slave boy! I am French, and the French do not lie down and take oppression! Did we let the English king bully us during the Hundred Years' War? No! We fought back and won! You also can win! We can build a fairer Hell!"
"I can't believe the Morningstars would really do this to us," said a demon in the audience.
"I can!" snarled Louis-Gaston. "This is a new low, but humans have always been beneath 'true' demons! Is it not legal for unmarried demons to go up to Earth and KIDNAP humans?! My beloved Sitri courted me like a proper civilized lady, but she was legally allowed to kidnap me if she'd wanted to! And then I would have been legally nothing more than a pleasure slave in a harem! Princess Lamashtu herself has FIVE kidnapped slave-wives that she stole from Earth and forced demonhood upon!"
Louis-Gaston saw that his speech was working. The crowed was getting worked up and angry. "Death to the Morningstars! Death to Lucifer and Lamashtu!" they chanted.
"That's right!" Louis-Gaston boomed. "Death to the Morningstars! We will bathe Hell in the blood of martyrs and remake it in the image of justice and fairness!"

Prince Jove Caelestis, Lord Gatekeeper of the Palace of Heaven and Second Son of God, frowned at Inari, Himari, and Cromwell. He stood ten feet tall with eight wings made from golden mist and a halo that seemed to be formed from crackling lightning. He leaned in to Inari. "Why should I trust a human, the angel who brought her here in violation of our laws, and a nobody angel who slanders the Grand Inquisitor?"
"Because we know Tarfiel and Azure!" Himari wailed. "We're sure they're innocent, but we need help to find the evidence! We need to see Penemue!"
"My sister is busy settling into her new apartments with her fiance," Jove said icily. "I won't let you three trouble her."
"Isn't there anything we can do?" asked Inari.
Jove smirked. "The human is quite attractive. Give her to me for my harem, and you can speak to Penemue." Prince Jove had a sizable harem of slave spouses of both sexes. He had no fewer than nine slave wives (Metis, Callisto, Europa, Antiope, Danaë, Io, Aegina, Alcmene, and Leda) and three slave husbands (Ganymede, Aquarius, and Adonis). It frustrated his chief wife Juno to no end, but Jove cared only for his own desires.
"Not a chance!" Himari fumed. "I'm saving myself for Tarfiel!"
"Then be on your way!" Jove thundered. "Guards! Show these fools out!"
Twelve guards grabbed the three petitioners and dragged them away from the palace. "This is outrageous!" Inari shouted to no avail. "I am Noble Inari!"
"I don't care if you're Archangel Michael!" a guard grunted to Inari as he dragged them off with the other two petitioners. "Jove is a son of God Himself!"
