“Before we begin,” Enoch staring at the party before him; “Is there anything you would like to say?”
“I wish I used the bathroom before we left,” Baal speaking; “I feel like I’m about to shit my britches.”
“Anything less vulgar,” Enoch rolling his eyes.
“I would like to say something,” Father Patrick speaking up.
“What is it,” Enoch allowing the lone human in their party to speak.
“Our father, who art in heaven…”
Alecto, Svadilfari and Ahriman squirmed uncomfortably as the priest started sighting the lord’s prayer. There look of disdan evident as they were unsure if being blessed or touched by God was going to help. Lucy Metatron and Sandalphon, the three angels joining in with Patrick as he spoke those hallowed words. Even Jahi, who’s memories were disjointed and fragmented also spoke. Every demon kept silent when Amen was utter; however, Enoch mouthed that last word silently.
“Let’s go,” Baal snuffing out his cigar; “time to show these thralls we mean business.”
***************
The battle started out easy. Metatron and Sandalphon used there magics to dispel the chaos enthralling the remaining Iron knights. Enoch’s charge, with Lightbringer unsheathed caused the demon thrall behind to recoil in horror, allowing his party to meet him in the center of the battle. Seeing the shade that was once Adrammelech; Enoch raised his blade and sliced the ethereal creature in twine, the sword then began to glow. Enoch watches as Baal, Alecto and Metatron strike the thralls with their blades, oly for the creatures to shudder and shrug off the damage.
“Nothing we do is stopping them,” Baal starting to wheeze.
“They’ll be on us in moments,” Alecto shouting; her spear cutting down the foes only for them to rise up and approach ever closer.
“If you got a trick up your sleeve Enoch,” Baal shouting; “now is the time!”
“I don’t want to attack them,” Enoch looking palled; “I might kill them!”
“It’s us or them,” Svadilfari screaming; “make your choice!”
Enoch Morningstar took off his shades; exposing his snake like eyes. Eyes just like his mother Lilith’s; with tears streaming down them he sees his brother Loki approach. His blank expression giving off a twisted grin as dark energies crackle before. Enoch’s heart goes heavy at what he must do.
“Forgive me brother,” Enoch raising his blade; “but if I could sacrifice my life to save yours, I would gladly do it!”
Before Enoch could bare down; a brilliant light envelopes him, causing time to stop still. Seeing everyone frozen in place, Enoch looks confused before a undefined shape of bright light approaches him.
“I have been observing you, Enoch Mornigstar. Since you wielded me and struck down that shade on earth, I have been watching you.”
“Who are you,” Enoch looking scared for the first time in his life; “what are you.”
“I am the living embodiment of the sword you call lightbringer; and I find you worthy of my power. Take my hand, use me to help your friends.”
Before Enoch could react, the being of light approach him and offered an outstretched hand. With trepidation, Enoch accepts the offer and is soon enveloped in a brilliant kaleidoscope of colors. Tears streaming from his face as he realizes what he needs to do.
Time restarts and everybody begins to move. They begin to falter as the Thralls move in for the kill. But at the last second, Light explodes from Enoch; bathing the entire group in a wash of calming and soothing light. Light that comes from the heart.
“I understand what the sword is,” Enoch shouting; “it’s a key! A key to the cosmic power of creation its self!” Looking at his brother Enoch lets the light that has built up within him explode and radiate out. The light hitting the Thralls and causing the chaos shades within to scream in pain as they are forced out from their hosts. Left without protection, they soon whither and die. As for the various Angels and Demons that were force to place host to the vile creatures, they soon found the wounds inflicted upon them by Heka and Qesem through the foul arts miraculously healed. The wave of light continuing to travel outward it soon encompassed the entire nine realms of hell helping to calm the anger and hatred within everyone’s heart.
“It’s a miracle,” Father Patrick dropping to his knees in prayer; the feeling of joy washing over him; “the lord truly did hear our prayers!”
“He heard something all right,” Baal looking chuffed as the battle looked clearly over; “but that may have been me passing gas.”
“Don’t be so flippant,” Metatron; “for this is truly a wonderous event. I am blessed to bear witness to it.”
*****************************************
As the dust settle and those who were not themselves began to stir; the light emanating from Enoch began to dim. Alecto was the first to notice and shouted in shock.
“Enoch! What has happened to you!”
Standing in the center of the group was not a demon wolf-taur with red skin and black fur. Instead the taur in question was clearly Angelic. Sporting a halo; Enoch’s human torso was now light bronze tan as if he spent the summer resting along the Mediterranean. His lower half still that of a wolf, but instead of black fur it was now pure snow white. Also along his wolf torso was a pair of wings; white when furled, but when in use would shimmer and sparkle in flight. His eyes no longer serpentine; they were solid blue; crackling with energy that was contained within.
“I became light bringer,” Enoch finally looking at himself; seeing his wings for the first time he instinctively flexes them. Watching as they sparkle with movement.
“If I didn’t see it,” Metatron dropping to his knees upon seeing Enoch; “I never would have believed it. A demon becoming an Angel. Becoming one with light itself!”
“I guess this mean brother,” Alecto approaching Enoch; you got your wish you made so long ago.”
“What wish is that,” Enoch picking up his glasses and noticing that they are broken; “Dam. I got them from a ZZ Top Concert back in the Eighties.”
“I remember,” Alecto looking at Enoch; “I remember those day when you were relentlessly picked on for being different. I remember you wishing you had wings so you fly like the rest of us.”
“This also mean,” Metatron getting up; that you need to come with us. Jehovah is going to want to talk.”
“First things first,” Enoch turning to look a Father Patrick; “you still know where the cave you and Lucy escaped from?”
“Yes, and I don’t think its far from here,” the priest answering.
“Then climb on my back,” Enoch stating; “Show me where it is. Metatron, you are more then welcome to join. Alecto Baal, Head back to Dis. Father and Lamashtu are going to need your help in stopping the unrest. And if you encounter Nergal,” Enoch looking grim; “arrest him. The rest of you help the unconscious, they should be waking up soon.” With That Enoch Lightbringer Morningstar takes flight for the first time in his life
