James crouched behind the natural obstacle, his breathing heavy and his mind racing. Fear washed over the newcomer as he contemplated his next move. Is the escape from his dorky pursuer possible? He had no idea what Oliver's device was, but He had a gut feeling that, a moment ago, he had dodged something horrible.
As he peeked around the tree, he saw Oliver taking out his phone and dialing a number, muttering something under his breath. When Oliver connected, James could hear his nasal voice speaking erratically.
"B-base, jungler here. I need assistance f-fast. Bring bot lane duo ASAP, before others notice the nomad." - he said, fixing the position of his glasses again in a nervous tick.
James had no idea what kind of code is this, but within moments, two more nerds appeared from different directions, converging on James' location. He assumed they were waiting in case something didn't go well with the initial capture.
The first nerd was a tall, fat, but still somewhat muscular girl with comical proportions. Her outfit consisted of a red bow tie, khaki pants, and a blue buttoned-up shirt tucked into said pants. She proudly showed her intimidating posture with her tiny twin ponytails fluttering in the wind. Despite her ridiculous get-up, James felt the pressure working.
The second nerd was a petite blonde girl with a long ponytail, her child-like face adorned with thin round glasses. The nerdy outfit she chose was a grey-checked short skirt, a light-blue sweater vest with a white buttoned shirt underneath, and a black tie complementing the whole look. Her sudden giggles sounded innocent, but James knew better than to underestimate her.
Both girls and Oliver closed in, forming a semi-circle around him. James felt trapped and unsure of their intentions. He saw the devices similar to Olivier's carried by the new nerdy reinforcements and froze in place. So that's it? They're going to kill me here and now on the campus grounds? His body still refused to acknowledge the signals from the brain, and he instinctively put up his hands to cover his face.
The three nerds exchanged glances in confusion. The tiny blonde girl spoke first.
"Um... Oliver, I think you overdid the surprise attack. Just look at this poor thing, shaking from fear like that..." - she spoke with honest compassion in her tone.
"N-no, I didn't, Lily! It would've been over, but he was making this difficult!" - Oliver argued back, pointing at scared James.
"Helga thinks you overdid it too!" - The giant dork spoke with a booming voice echoing through the campus grounds. - "Besides, Helga and Lily received an instruction to bring him back to the hideout as a nomad so the GM could transform him himself!"
Transform? Into what? Was this a common practice for a new student to be a guinea pig for nerds here? James was more confused with each passing moment, but he couldn't do anything but listen to the dorks arguing.
"W-what? B-but he was my prey!" - Oliver's face was getting red from the anger. He needed to adjust his glasses faster as sweat made it difficult for them to stay on his face.
"Um... was is the keyword here, my dear Oliver... orders from GM are absolute, and you know that..." - Lily turned to the brute - "Um... please carry him to the hideout, gently." - she added considering, the poor state James was in.
"Fine." - she answered indifferently and extended her giant hand to capture James - "Don't resist puny nomad. Helga doesn't want to break your tiny bones."
James surprisingly obliged and was carried by Helga like a log on her massive shoulder. He had no choice but to comply with their demands. With the capture complete, the three nerds were about to go to their hideout.
