Enoch was meeting with his Uncle Michael regarding what had happened with Tarfiel. He needed Tarfiel and Azure to be guarded by those who could handle both Chaos and Kushiel.
"And then the idiot ran at me with a blade," Enoch said. "I kicked his ass, of course."
"He had it coming," Michael frowned. "He may be the... Grand Inquisitor..." Michael said the title as if it were a vulgarity, "but that does not give him the right to go lunging at angels with no scrap of even circumstantial evidence."
"The bastard really hates demons, doesn't he?" sighed Enoch. "Even ex-demons."
"That's true enough," Michael said, matching his nephew's sigh. "He's been giving Cassandra and Iris trouble as well."
"Who?" asked Enoch.
"Cruciata and Pava," Michael explained. "Those are the names they were given during the vows. On that note..." Michael frowned slightly. "You were quite impudent during yours."
"Hey, I like the name Enoch," Enoch shrugged. "It's not even that demonic, It was really popular among humans before the Great Flood. It was Metatron's old human name."
Michael shuddered a bit at the mention of the Great Flood, recalling how Kushiel, Semyaza, and Prince Jove had played on Jehovah's anger at human sorcerers messing around with Chaos magic in those days to convince him to do something drastic. Michael pushed that thought from his head and tried to focus. "I didn't mean about the name. Precedent has been broken before. After all, Parthenope named our kids Charles, Celine, and Abrielle. No, I was referring to the part where you refused to accept King Jehovah as your Lord and Savior."
"Well, I'm my own master," Enoch shrugged.
"Be that as it may, King Jehovah is the ruler of your new country, as well as the being you're now working for. You've been entrusted with a huge responsibility, Enoch Morningstar. You need to start growing up, start showing some tact, and accepting that you aren't best off as a lone wolf."
"Maybe we could compromise?" Enoch suggested.
"How so?" asked Michael.
"I'll retake my vows on the condition that I'm asked to accept Jehovah as my friend and guide," said Enoch.
"You're so like your father," Michael smiled, shaking his head. "Yes, I think Jehovah would be fine with that. He's really quite reasonable... when Kushiel, Semyaza, and Prince Jove can't pressure him into measures He's not comfortable with."
"Yeah, I'll be there to counteract those assholes," Enoch smirked, "to give the Head Honcho an extra perspective."
"He'd be most grateful," Michael smiled.
"So, do you agree to guard Azure and Tarfiel?" Enoch asked. "Healing Tarfiel took a lot out of me; my powers take a lot of time to recharge. I don't think I'd be able to heal her again if she got attacked within the next couple of weeks."
"Of course I will," Michael nodded. "I've fought Chaos before."
