Semyaza silently thanked Chaos that he had a backup sitar. Once he finished recharging the veil over the part of the city of New Jerusalem that contained both the Grand Library and the Inquisitorial Headquarters, the Deputy Director of the Inquisition opened a portal to Beelzebub.
"You have news from Heaven, Semyaza?" Beelzebub asked, his many eyes roving over the angel. "Make it quick. Heka and Qesem will soon restore Typhon to corporeal life."
"That Enoch Morningstar you spoke of has been doing some sleuthing," said Semyaza. "He even found one of my sitars and destroyed it. Don't worry, I have many others stashed in hiding places in different parts of town, hiding places selected to imply angels of background other than my own as the culprit. I actually keep one under the floor tiles of a restaurant kitchen."
"Does Enoch suspect YOU of being the spellcaster?" asked Beelzebub.
"No, he doesn't," said Semyaza. "All he really knows is that it's someone who can play a sitar. Fortunately, Penemue and Azure both play the sitar. It should be child's play to frame one or both of them. In the meantime, I should offer Enoch some minor aid to keep him thinking of me as an ally. Would you be willing to let me give him intel against Nergal?"
"GO ahead," laughed Beelzebub. "He's already gotten the needed sacrifices to Heka and Qesem."
"Oh, one more thing," said Semyaza. "Tell me where you think Lucifer and Lilith are."
"Scattered into the winds!" Beelzebub laughed. "Nergal had my 'old friend', his wife, and his sister killed."
"You're mostly wrong there," said Semyaza. "Lucifer and Lilith are in hiding, perhaps even up here in Heaven. Only Astaroth is actually dead."
"Then who did Nergal behead in front of the palace?!" Beelzebub demanded.
"Probably a flesh puppet," Semyaza said dryly. "You know, like we use when angels and demons spirit away a human to wed."
"Do something about them!" Beelzebub thundered. "Send a Chaos shade to track them. They have keener tracking skills than any hellhound and are a hundred times as deadly."
"I will," Semyaza said as he closed the portal. He then opened his dossier on Nergal to pick out some good intelligence to give to Enoch. Afterwards, he had a Chaos shade to summon. Semyaza had work to do.
