Oliver's attention was almost entirely focused on the camera, nearly tripping down the attic stairs in his hyperfixated state. Unknown to the boy, one of the switches he flipped made it so the camera user would be aware of any future changes the device made. However, he was still unaware of his former state as a much older mother. Nor being held to conception by his former husband. Nor his daughter becoming his father. Nor a younger boyfriend separate from the family becoming his older sister. Nothing from before those long 12 years ago! Perhaps in time, he would...but not now.
Now, all he had was that nagging feeling in the back of his head that something about this camera was important. From how his dad reacted, he assumed he knew nothing about it. He doubted Jerry would know about it, and Rebecca...she'd just tell him to go away even if she did know. Maybe his mom would recognize it then? She was already starting to leave with Jerry though, and he knew how testy she could get having him ask questions like the ones he had about this. Still, there was no way he could carry out the day waiting for answers about this! No, he was impatient as most 12 year olds were and wanted answers. Now!
He didn't bother thinking things further than that. That feeling was calling out to him and soon became too hard to resist. He had to take a picture. It told him that something would happen once he did it...something that would help him understand why he felt this way! On instinct, he gulped in anticipation and fear, before choosing to snap a picture of the person closest to the camera - himself.
