Rick pondered about the polaroid, wondering about all the possibilities that this magic camera could produce when he got struck with inspiration.
“Hey babe, wanna really test the limits of the camera? How about we take a few wide shots of the mall? Let’s see how much this camera can actually alter things.” He proposed to his girlfriend.
“Ooh Ricky, that’s a great idea!” Emily gushed back to him. “And I know just the place to do it, come on!”
The two jumped on an escalator to reach the second floor of the mall which had a little viewing area of the floor below with the perfect test subjects. To the left was a small seating area where a family sat; a mother and father out for the day with their young son and daughter. Towards the middle was a low-end clothing store with just about every piece of clothing you could need inside. Lastly to the right was a hot dog stand manned by a scraggly teenage boy.
Emily handed the camera over to Rick, eager to see the outcome of the first shot. “Fire away babe.”
“With pleasure.” Rick pressed the button, unaware that since he and Emily were still inside the mall, they would be changing alongside it.
FLASH
Raquel lowered the camera from her face and was flabbergasted by what she saw. “Un maravilloso!” Was all she could express.
“What is it mi hermana? What changed?” Elena asked her sister curiously.
“The mall. Everything about it… es un paraiso latino!” Raquel exclaimed, noting the mall’s new Latin look. The Latina sisters began to further inspect the new mall and its changed patrons.
The family to the left were now 2 Latino couples enjoying a day out. Raquel noticed how hunky the 2 men now looked. “Hmph, too bad they're taken, otherwise I would’ve rocked their world.” The store in the middle was still a clothing store, however now its items for sale were much more suited for Mexican weather. Elena even noticed a few new floral halter tops that she thought looked super cute. Lastly, the hot dog stand was now a food stand that served empanadas, now manned by an older Latina milf. The aromas originating from it reminded Raquel & Elena of their mother’s home cooking.
“¡Esto es fantástico! A mall that celebrates our culture!” Raquel gushed.
“Sì. But we should get back to testing though.”
“Che? You don’t wanna leave it as is?”
“We want to see if la cámara can keep up with this amount of changes, no? Besides, I’m sure we can return to this version of the mall later if we wanted to.” Elena explained to her sister.
“Alright fine,” Raquel said, a little defeated. Her older sister always called the shots between the two, ever since they were niñas. “Here, it’s your turn anyway.”
Elena readied the camera and snapped a photo of the same spot.
FLASH
Erica inspected the camera’s results and was pleased with what she saw.
“Wow, there’s a lot more kids out with their mommies and daddies now!” Her son Ryan said.
“That’s right Ryan! Looks like we’ve made it a kiddie mall now.” Once again, she began to inspect the mall further, while Ryan continued to play with his toy car.
The 2 couples over to the left were now a single mother with her 3 kids. “Poor girl, she’s really got her hands full.” Erica thought, sympathising with her fellow mother. Towards the middle, the clothing store was now a giant toy store with a bunch of kids looking towards the robot on display in the window. Over on the right, the food stand was now a face painting stand with a young woman painting a tiger on a little girl.
Erica was really glad with what the mall had become. A safe and happy place she could take Ryan to when she went shopping. She was ready to leave it at that when she felt the tug of her sweater.
“Mommy, can I take a photo now please?” Ryan asked his mother with his best pleading eyes.
Erica really didn’t want to, but how could she say no to her well-behaved son? Plus, it was still important she continue testing how powerful the camera was so she could keep Ryan and herself safe.
“Alrighty baby, but be careful okay? This is really fragile.” She bent down to hand him the polaroid.
“Ok Mommy”. Ryan again aimed down to the first floor, capturing the same three subjects.
FLASH
As the light from the flash faded, Rebecca couldn’t believe what she saw.
“Elissa, girl! You’re not gonna believe what the camera’s done!” She beckoned her BFF over.
“Like, I’m coming Becks!” She said as she finished reapplying her makeup. She made her way over to where Rebecca was standing and she couldn’t believe her eyes. Surveying the mall's lower floor, there were no men in sight! Only women!
“OMG, did we just, like, create a girls-only mall!?” Elissa excitedly asked. The two women squealed in delight. They felt as if they’d just won the camera transformation lottery.
Looking over the photo, the two inspected just how different the mall had become. The family by the left had become a group of 4 teenage girls, gossiping with each other as they carried bags of purchases. The store in the middle had now become a fancy dress store, the emerald green dress on display in the window particularly catching Rebecca’s eye. Lastly, the stand on the right had now become a perfume stand with an older lady running the shop. The mall was now the ultimate feminine paradise!
“Like, we’ve made the mall a girl's paradise!” Elissa gushed. “Come on Rebecca! Let’s do some shopping girl! There are, like so many stores I wanna see how they’ve changed!”
“You said it Elissa! Let’s get going-” She replied, fixing her luscious red locks of hair before noticing the camera again. She and Elissa had done enough testing of it for now. “Actually, we should probably change the mall back to normal.”
“What?! Becks, we’ve made the mall, like, so much better! Aren’t you a little curious to see how the rest of the place turned out?” Her BFF argued.
“I know girl, but this using camera too much can be, like, super dangerous. It’s best we fix everything, just like you did when you turned me into a boy earlier today.”
Elissa pouted, crossing her arms underneath her large bosom. “Hmph! If you say so. But don’t come crying to me saying you wish you had kept it an all-girls mall!”
Rebecca readied the camera and positioned it to capture the whole mall again, aiming to transform it to normal, but the camera has other ideas. While the girls will THINK the mall is back to normal after the next change, the camera will continue transforming the mall with its chaos. What will the mall become, and by proxy, Rebecca and Elissa?
