Chad was fed up with this nightmare. It couldn't be real. It was all an illusion or delusion. He took a deep breath, and opened the door to the hallway. It looked like the inside of a drawer with a stack of tarps. He suspected they were underwear, but he wasn't sure. No. He knew that beyond that door was the upstairs hallway of his family home. It was not an underwear drawer.
He braced himself and stepped forward through the doorway. He walked straight into the stacked fabric. He blinked it was real. Suddenly, he was in the dark. He spun around. There was solid wood where his door should have been.
Then he heard a bell ringing.
Inside the pentagram an East Indian meditation bell began to ring all on its own. Chad could hear the distant sound of footsteps, and a voice boomed, "Chad activated the spell. Now, let's see if he's chosen gym bag, washer or drawer. If he's not in one of those, he must be in the school locker.
Chad was sure he was still human, and alive, but he wasn't sure if he still would be either if the speaker found him. Chad knew something about drawers having built a chest of drawers in woodshop. He hurriedly climbed the stack of fabric in the dim light leaking through cracks in the drawer openings. He made his way to the back edge of the drawer, and climbed into the gap behind thr drawer. Just in time too.
The wooden back of the drawer pulled away from him. Chad clung to the narrow ledge by which the drawer's slider track was attached to the inside back of the chest. He could have fallen into the drawer below, but at his current size that drop might have broken bones if it didn't kill him.
"Damn. Not here either. Must be in the school locker. When I find him, he will be so sorry he peed in my gym bag," boomed the giant slamming the drawer into Chad.
He bought himself some time. He wasn't sure who had done this to him. At his current tiny size, his tiny cochlea registered normal sounds differently. He didn't realize that yet. Now how to escape? He tries pushing the drawer forward. Maybe he can climb back in the drawer and out the front? Or maybe climb down the sides if the drawers and out beneath the chest?
