Jan frowned. The spell she cast should have ripped open Kat's inner sanctum. The wall didn't even shimmer. Kat was a lot more powerful than her mother thought.
She frowned. Then bit her lip. If she couldn't go through the barrier, maybe should go around, over or beneath it. Kat was a new which, she probably only cast the barrier in two dimensions.
Jan closed her eyes. She imagined a bucket of glitter paint thrown against the wall. It flowed across the barrier, and formed a border around the barrier which remained spotless.
She had an idea. She left Kat's room and went to the next bedroom. Dan's room shared a wall with Kat's room. Jan concentrated on the common wall, and muttered arcane words. The plaster started to crack. A square formed by the cracks started to rock back and forth. Then the square of wall broke free from the wall. It floated into Dan's room rotated so the inner wall of Kat's room faced Jan. The barrier now protected the hole in Kat's wall.
Jan waived her hand, and the extra dimensional cupboard opened. On the shelf was a spinning glowing disk, a tiny glowing bottle, and a closed spellbook.
Where was Dan? Was he transformed into the the disk? Or the jar? Or the book?
Maybe he was not in the cupboard, but maybe there was a clue. She was reluctant to cast another spell faced with glowing magical objects. Maybe if she examined the objects more closely?
