Mira led Elise over to her pack, where she searched through, bringing out a set of pyjamas for her and a second set for Elise.
"I know you used to like to sleep naked," said Mira "But you tend to take on some of the mannerisms of the people you mimic. Just see how you feel when you try these on."
Elise pulled on the pyjamas, and sighed contentedly as she got into the bedroll.
"These will do fine. Thank you for being so kind to me," Elise said
"You're acting alot like you did when we first met," Mira said, as she indicated for Elise to sit next to her, then began to braid her hair, so it would be out of the way while she slept "You had not been shown kindness, or love your whole life. You thought the world was all darkness and gloom. We showed you the light that was denied to you for so long."
Elise knew she could have just used her shapechanging abilities to put her hair into a braid, but there was something comforting about having Mira do it.
"Was I happy after you took me in?" she asked
Mira nodded.
"I hope I can be like that again. Right now, I feel lost, adrift in my own thoughts like the last few floating planks of a sinking ship, clinging to what I can and hoping for rescue."
Mira pulled Elise into a hug, and Elise caught the same scent of pine needles that she had caught in her bed. That meant that the one she was sleeping in had been used more recently. Had Mira given up her own main bedroll, and was sleeping in the spare?
"You're not lost," Mira said "We've found you, and we'll make sure you don't stray from the path again."
Elise smiled, and then broke the hug, climbing into the bedroll she had been offered. She thought that with the excitement of the last day, she'd find it hard to fall asleep, but found herself drifting off almost immediately. The last sensation she had before losing consciousness was the smell of pine needles.
