The safety had a bit of a problem. Namely...it was near impossible to keep every detail of the previous reality intact. The memory wasn't big enough to store the entire world's worth of details in it, so some got corrupted.
"Bark..." Sandy frowned. Had she just said Bark? That wasn't right, was it? Her intelligence began to roll back to what it had been an hour earlier, along with her age...her clothes vanished.
In the backyard, Lilly and Jeff found themselves becoming self-aware again. In the temporary reality, Lilly and Jeff had been the same age. So, as it tried to put reality back to the human dominant reality, it mixed up which one had been an adult and which a teenager. Lilly picked up Sandy's leash. Something had just happened, but she wasn't sure what. "Mr. Perkins," she told Jeff, "I finished walking Sandy..."
Jeff was equally disoriented. "Thank you...umm...Did something just happen?"
Lilly blinked, looking around. "Not sure...I thought I heard this weird noise...but...Anyway...you owe me for this week."
He reached into his wallet and handed her some cash, and took the leash from her
, naked on the grass in the yard. "What the hell?" Lilly said, feeling disoriented. The last thing she remembered was going for a walk, and now..."What happened? What are we doing here?"
As confused as she was, Jeff was confused as to why the world had reverted...unlike Lilly...he had a much clearer recollection of the last hour. "I'm not sure," he lied, rising to his feet.
"We'd better get inside," Lilly said.
