Deep in the woods, the Mischievous Witch was enjoying her day as she picked up ingredients for her spells and potions. Flowers, plants, herbs, roots, insects, stones, nothing escaped her notice. After all, everything had a use in witchcraft. This witch enjoyed her life tremendously, even if she lacked human friends. No matter. She felt fine in her cottage concocting spells and potions. She was fine on her own. Oh, and it meant she had all the time in the world to dispense spells, rewards and punishments to the people she crossed path with. She had plenty of friends and acquaintances in other worlds and humans was always amusing to test and reward or punish, depending on the outcome of their character's decisions. Of course, it was most entertaining when punishment was dealt by her hand. When people deserved to be cursed and taught a lesson, it was so much more fun! But if they deserved a kind and good spell, she did so. It was just the right thing to do as well.
"Ma'am! Ma'am! Please!"
The witch turned around. A girl, not above her very early twenties for sure, was coming towards her from the path. She explained she was lost and that she'd require a phone or a way to get out of the forest because hets had fallen in a watery and muddy puddle. The witch smiled and said she had a phone in her cottage and that yes, she would offer help. Relieved, the girl thanked her profusely and promised to make it up to her, whether in money or in doing something like sweeping her floor or doing something for the woman's kindness. The witch could sense the girl's good heart and kind intentions. Of course she had no phone in her cottage, mobile or otherwise, and she'd make the girl a good cup of tea. Well, her own cup would be actual tea. The girl's would contain an interesting portion. This girl deserved a better life and the witch had an idea of how to give her that. In a sense. Modern life was way too complicated and from the conversation they had on the way back to her cottage, this girl was at university, had no children but was struggling in the complexities of modern life. She deserved better indeed than this world had to offer. And precisely the witch had a need for a human to transform at the moment.
