When the scenery had finished shifting James was surprised but also somewhat relieved to find himself lying on his bed at his apartment. He must have fallen asleep, he figured, and dreamt it all. As real as that whole experience had felt there was no way his friend Becky could have sent him into some animal transformation story to be messed with by her or anyone else who decided to add to it. It was a weird dream to have but then most dreams didn't make much sense.
As James sat up though something else began to puzzle him. There was a large gold lamp on his bedside table, just like the one in all the stories he had been told as a kid. How had that managed to get there? Was Becky pranking him again? He really regretted giving her that spare key. He picked it up and examined it briefly. There was a smudge mark on it's side and without even thinking about it James began to rub it clean. He jumped back in shock as there was a sudden explosion of colourful smoke and he was joined in his room by a large, blue spirit of a muscular, bearded middle eastern man who was still attached to the lamp he had emerged from.
"You have to be kidding me!" James mouthed in disbelief.
"I am the genie of the lamp" the magical figure announced, his arms folded as he towered over James "And you have freed me! Now I can use my power to grant wishes!"
"I get to make wishes? Like, anything I want?" James asked with a hint of excitement, to which the genie gave a hearty laugh.
"It is not like the stories you are familiar with I'm afraid" the genie revealed "Since you set me free the wishes must be about you and anyone except you can make a wish!"
"About me?" James asked nervously.
"That's right" the genie nodded "Anyone can wish for anything they want to happen to you and I will use my magic to make it so. And seeing as we are on the animal transformation section on CYOC I am hoping for some pretty fun wishes. It is so long since I got to use my powers on someone!"
"CYOC?" James repeated. So maybe he was somehow stuck in that weird site Becky liked. He really wished he could have stopped her from putting him into that chapter she wrote. But, of course, his wishes counted for nothing here "So anyone can get three wishes? Or is it three wishes overall?"
The genie let out another hearty laugh "I told you already it is not like in the stories you have been told. There is no limit to how many wishes people can make!"
