The Oval Office
Gazing out into the rose garden, The Boss couldn't help but smile. After so many years of planning things were finally coming to fruition.
"Mr. President your morning coffee."
The Boss glanced up, a smile cracking across his face as his aid now entered. Although he had held this position several times over the last 80 years, he never got tired of hearing it. "Thank you Maureen," he grinned, tipping his mug back as the hot liquid slid down his throat. "Perfect as always. Anything on the agenda today?"
"The Secretary of State just returned from his overseas trip," she said. "He's waiting outside." A joyous look now spread across the Bosses face, the man smoothing back his salt and pepper hair as he smiled at his aid. He had been anticipating this meeting for quite sometime. "Please send him in."
Taking a seat at his desk, the Boss watched as Casseus now entered the room. The illusion the wizard cast made him appear to be a normal human yet to the Boss he could see Casseus's graying, cracking skin and red eye. "Mr. Secretary," the Boss smiled. "Please have a seat. Maureen if you'll excuse us we have something to discuss." As the Bosses aid now departed, he anxiously awaited what he hoped would be good news. "Well?"
"It is my greatest pleasure Mr. President," Casseus grinned. "To inform you that our 'diplomatic issues' with the Dragons will no longer be a concern."
The Boss chuckled, leaning back in his chair. After so many years of trying, they had finally managed to eliminate the Dragons. "Casseus would you be so kind as to call the Vice President and Chief of Staff. I think it's time to celebrate."
Twenty minutes later the Boss found himself surrounded by Casseus, Choon Hee, and Rick. The four of them, along with Remy and Ann had journeyed through time to the year 2023. Once in the past they began to enact their plans. First by eliminating the previous Catalyst and her friends and allies. Secondly the Boss decided that in order to obtain as clear an advantage as possible, they needed more power. This was how the Boss initially ran for President.
Always a schemer, the Boss used some magic and old fashioned bribery to win that first election. From there, with an almost unlimited army amd munitions (on top of their own supplies) they had gone to work. Eliminating the wizards, the kitsune, the tanuki, the fae, and any other supernatural race they pleased. The work itself wasn't easy, to do everything they wanted would take years. Fortunately, the Boss had a contingency plan, namely rigging the election, cycling through the four of them as president, and useing their magic to remain virtually immortal.
"To the Dragons," the Boss cheered as he raised his glass of champagne. "May they enjoy whatever afterlife they ended up in."
"I hate to rain on the parade," Rick stated. "But what about Fukushu and his resistance?" The Boss paused, glancing at his Chief of Staff. Old age had taken its toll on the once teenage wizard. The teen was now an elderly man of 70, what was left of his hair now grey and thin. "What about Fukushu," the Boss asked, raising an eyebrow. "We just eliminated his only financial backer. It will only be a matter of time before we eliminate what's left of his resistance."
"He'll be dealt with either during this administration or the next," Choon Hee replied. "Personally I'm hoping it's the next. I believe it's my turn next to be president and I would love nothing more than to crush that kitsune."
"Whoa settle down there," the Boss chuckled. "I still have a couple years left in my term." A collective laugh now emanated from the group. They had been working towards this goal for 80 years and could finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Their decades of hard work was finally about to bear fruit.
A small red light now illuminated on the Bossea desk. This light was a direct line to the Normal, allowing the organization to communicate directly with the Boss on a secure channel. Activating the holo system, they watched as the holographic image of a Normal agent stood before them. "Go ahead," the Boss said.
"Sir," the agent responded. "There's been an incident in Washington state involving UnNormal activity. I think you need to take a look." The Boss sighed, acknowledging the agent as the holovideo began to play. These incidents were a common occurrence, usually involving Fukushu's resistance. Often times they were trivial, yet the Boss did not want to let his guard down.
As the quartet watched the video replay, their mouths slowly began to gape. The image before them showed an abandoned home, one they immediately recognized from a future they worked tirelessly to keep from happening. In an instant though, they could see around ten young teens standing in the houses front yard with a pair of Soul Drives and two young kits and it was one teenager in particular that greatly worried them. "It can't be," Rick gasped.
"It is," the Boss growled. "The Catalyst."
As the video played, they watched as Darren was confronted by a trio of Soul Drives that the Normal used to patrol. These Soul Drives were used as law enforcement, making sure that the populace remained under the Normals control.
The confrontation between Darren and the Bosses Soul Drives was brief, the teens magic activating before help arrived. The Boss watched as the witch Mia, her werewolf lover Zack, and the kitsune Sachiko swooped in the save the group before vanishing from sight once more. As the video ended, the group now gazed at the stone faced Boss as he folded his hands under his chin.
"Casseus," the Boss said softly. "Get Ann and a strike team together. I want this taken care of quickly!" Casseus nodded, the group quickly exiting the room before the Bosses temper exploded. With the Oval Office to himself once more, the Boss turned to gaze out into the rose garden once more. He had come so far, he was so close to finally completing his vision.
"The Catalyst," he snarled. "Kid I've come too far to let you change my world. You're about to learn the hard way that no one can stop my vision."
