As Mason holds his friend-turned-baby-girl in his arms, Mandy enters the room, “I heard crying,” she says, “is everything alright, Mason?”
Mason looks up to see the five year-old standing in the door with her head tilted, “um… y-yeah,” he says, “Jess just fell over,” he lies, “so I was just trying to calm her.”
Mandy steps into the room, “well, my little sis is still a baby,” she says, “she isn’t able to walk like us big kids,” she adds.
“I guess,” Mason says.
Mandy leans down and smiles, “looks like she has fallen asleep,” she says, she then straightens herself back up, “let’s let her sleep and go play something.”
Mason hesitates, something does not feel right, “um… Mandy,” he says.
“Yes, Mason,” the girl asks, tilting her head.
“Um… ha-have you used the Laptop,” the boy asks.
“Well, I wanted to,” Mandy says, “but before I could start playing the weird game I you played earlier it crashed and that message appeared,” she says, pointing to the screen. Mandy then looks at Mason, “why do you ask?”
“Um… be-because,” Mason hesitates, should he really be telling Mandy about the game? It wouldn’t hurt, since the game has vanished, right?
“Because… what,” Mandy asks.
Mason lets out a sigh, “because the game is able to change people, objects and reality,” he says.
“Really,” Mandy asks, acting amazed, “did you change anything?”
Mason quickly shakes his head, “n-no… no I didn’t, I swear,” he says, not noticing the panic in his voice.
Mandy however does notice, ‘hm… sounds like he is lying,’ she thinks to herself, ‘I wonder what he has changed. I should have checked the logs before transferring the game to my iPad, oh well, I’ll find a way to figure it out.’
The girl then shrugs, “welp… the game is gone, so I guess we’ll never know if it really can change stuff,” she says, “let’s go downstairs and play something.”
“Sh-souldn’t we put your sis in her crib,” Mason asks.
“I’m taller than you,” she says, reaching out to take “Jess” from Mason, “I’ll put her in the crib and meet you downstairs.”
Mason reluctantly lets Mandy take the “baby” from him and watches as she carries the baby over to the crib, “um… okay,” he says and leaves the room.
Mandy turns around when she hears Mason leave, the 5 year-old grins evilly, looking down at the baby, ‘my plan is working better than I thought,’ she thinks to herself, ‘Mason will soon forget all about Jess and start to become more interested in me,’ the girl then carefully lies the baby into the crib.
