Days started to blend together for Jasper. He slept a lot, felt his three eggs around his body, ate the food that was brought to him in bowls and did the same with the water. Opal explained that if Jasper had been a dragon mother on her own, she would have to go hungry or leave her clutch to hunt. Here, at least, she could devote herself fully to tending her precious eggs. Food was brought to her. One of the advantages of keeping together and staying as a group. It made a division of tasks which rendered life easier. It wasn't always great but it was better than risking more on their own. Jasper bit his tongue not to retort that he could've done without Argent. But he dragged himself through his new life, even if the other dragons found it very unusual that the new female refused scented oils, baths, jewellery and other luxuries and delicacies inherent to any dragon that respected himself or herself.
But one day, early in the morning, Jasper was woken by a great commotion. Shouts, screams, snaps of jaws, panicked words and a lot of running around. For a few precious moments, Jasper assumed that maybe his parents had discovered what had happened to him and sent an army to free him. With a spell to make him male and human again! He would see his testicles and penis again! He wouldn't have to be the forced mate of an overgrown lizard and he would urinate standing up! He wouldn't have to take a dragon dick inside of him! Hooray! Finally his nightmare would be over!
Alas, his hopes were short-lived. Opal rushed in, all frightened and stressed out. Fretfully she told Jasper that another dragon had come in, intent on fighting Argent for his harem and hoard. Both would fight and the winner would take everything. Some females might leave with Argent but it was improbable. Leaving to wander in nature with babies and eggs... It wasn't a life! At best, if the new dragon won, Argent might stay as a female of sort, acting as a male concubine to offer his new master some sexual diversity. Jasper was frightened. Argent was bad enough in his opinion. What would the new contestant be like? Opal misinterpreted her friend's worries and added that the new male would not harm her babies or the others' because they were not his. But he would expect more obedience and lots of sensual attention in return. Jasper wanted to throw up. Be even more of a concubine? No way! He couldn't believe he'd come to that, but he wished ardently to stay with Argent. So Jasper prayed that the fight would see his current mate win.
