As Andrew continued to wander through the arcade, a particular area caught his eye. It was labelled as a Virtual Reality, or VR, section, tucked away in a quieter part of the arcade. It was markedly different from the other, more familiar areas. It had a futuristic feel to it, illuminated by soft, pulsating neon lights that painted a stark contrast against the darkened corners. There were several nondescript cabins, lined up in a row, each fitted with an array of seemingly high-tech equipment.
Intrigued, Andrew approached one of the cabins. It looked like something straight out of a sci-fi movie. The door slid open automatically as he approached it, revealing its innards - it was completely dark inside, save for a lone bench that stood in the center.
Compelled by the novelty of the experience, Andrew decided to give it a shot. He passed his card through the scanner next to the door and entered the cabin. The door shut quietly behind him and he was swallowed by the darkness. He instinctively reached out to find the bench and took a seat.
It felt strange to be enclosed in a small, dimly lit room, completely cut off from the bustling arcade outside. As the minutes ticked by, a wave of exhaustion washed over him, fueled by both the late hours and the sensory overload of the arcade. Andrew decided to rest his eyes for a moment, leaning back against the wall of the cabin.
That was the last thing he remembered.
When he woke up, he was in a completely different world.
