You consider staying with the old math teacher, but despite the possibility of finding information that could help you in class, you decided against it. You had pretty decent grades, you didn't really need to cheat to pass. Not that you were some goody-two-shoes, but you really didn't need to do it right away. If this ability kept up, you would have plenty of opportunities to spy on the teachers if you wanted to.
Since you knew it worked, why not return to your body and pick a more interesting person to possess? Nodding at your decision, you let go of the math teacher, and you suddenly find yourself returned to your body in the middle of English class. Thankfully, you manage to keep yourself from twitching this time, so no one pays you any mind. While your teacher drones on about Shakespearean metaphors, you begin scanning the class over the edge of your book to find your next target.
You immediately dismiss the teacher, a forty-something woman with a bob cut and an obsession with American poetry. You don't want to spend the day as her, either listening to class or worse, having to teach it. There are quite a few students in your class, and several different stereotypical cliques: the drama crowd, the in-kids, the jocks, the goths, the nerds, and of course a few randos like you. You could try out being one of the popular girls, but listening to them talking about fashion and hair care would probably drive you nuts, especially since you were thinking about staying in the person for the rest of the day. That's when your gaze halts. Now that would be an interesting person to possess. Someone the exact opposite of you.
Tall, dark, and handsome didn't even begin to describe Ethan. He was the heartthrob of the class, quarterback of the football team, and practically a shoo-in for homecoming king. In other words, he didn't even know you existed. But then again, you didn't particularly care for him either. The two of you were just too different. But in an objective sense, he was definitely handsome, and it might be fun to see what the popular guys were like. The things guys could get away with just because they were guys. And just who Ethan actually liked, since so far you hadn't heard of him having a girlfriend.
But how were you going to make eye contact with that eye candy? Well, you had a plan for that too. Picking an extra eraser out of your backpack, you hurry to follow Ethan out of the classroom. Naturally, he is surrounded by the rest of the in-crowd, but you manage to find a small opening.
"Excuse me, I think you dropped this," you say, surprisingly boldly for you, as you tap Ethan on the arm. And that's when it happens, just for a second. He looks you in the eyes, and you jump . It definitely works, because you can now see yourself from Ethan's vantage point. But you don't take over, and just act as a spectator for now.
"Oh, thanks," Ethan replies distractedly, taking the eraser and pretty much ignoring you, turning back to his conversation. Of course, your body expected this and leaves without any further contact, but your goal has been achieved.
The rest of the schoolday alternates between curiosity and boredom, as you spy on Ethan's interactions and some memories, but you still have no clue who Ethan is really into. It seems like memories only come to you when you actually need them to reply as Ethan, and since you are not taking an active role, your access is limited. Since you don't want to bother with pretending to be Ethan during school, you figure you'll just take over when he gets home.
After school, Ethan heads for his car, his best friend and teammate Jason tagging along, not really surprising. They get into the car, but instead of heading for home, to your surprise, Ethan heads for a rather deserted area of a wooded nature preserve. You wonder what is going on as Ethan and Jason look at each other.
"Man, babe, it feels like school took forever~...I was waiting for this all day," you hear Jason say, and before anything registers, Jason leans over and plants a kiss right on Ethan's lips. To your shock, you feel Ethan reciprocate.
