Smiling broadly, Jake lifted the bottle to his mouth and used his strong marsupial teeth to effortlessly prise off the cap. He took a swig, savoring the cool liquid against his parched throat. Wiping his mouth with the back of his furry hand, he turned to Pete and rose from his seat, offering it to the robot.
"Now, mate, how about we switch places here?" Jake said, his Australian accent pronouncing 'here' more like 'heah.' "I reckon it's only fair. You got to be the experiment, now you get to be the experimenter."
Pete, still in awe of his newfound form, paused, then nodded. "Alright...I guess that's only fair."
Jake clapped a strong, kangaroo-like hand on Pete's metallic shoulder and gave him an encouraging grin. "Go ahead, tin man. What would you want to transform me into?" He took another swig from the bottle before settling into a more casual stance, eager to see what his friend would come up with.
Pete stood still, his expression unreadable behind the mechanical sheen of his robot face. For a moment, he seemed lost in thought, a distant look in his digital eyes as if he was considering countless possibilities. Suddenly, he broke from his trance-like focus, swiftly typing up the transformations in the Chronivac.
Jake, curious as he was, restrained himself from peeking at the screen. He wanted the change to be a surprise.
"All right," Pete finally announced. "I think I've got it. Are you ready, Jake?"
Jake quickly leapt into the middle of the room, anticipation bringing a vibrant gleam to his eyes. "I’m ready, mate. Do your worst."
Pete activated the Chronivac, setting the changes in motion. The tingling sensation that Jake had become all too familiar with now surged through him again. His tail began to morph, transforming into the tail rotor of a helicopter. The fur turned metallic, cooling vents appearing along the length, effectively whirring and dissipating heat.
A sudden pressure built upon his back as a hump began to form, slowly expanding to resemble a mechanical backpack. Massive vents grew along his metal body to provide a proficient cooling system for the powerful helicopter engine that was now nestled inside the hump. His back and hump adorned the same red and black design pattern as Pete's, creating a sense of unity between the two transformations.
A helicopter’s main rotor then sprouted from the engine, the blades running parallel to his body, just above his head. His wide-brimmed hat gave way to a more appropriate baseball cap, equipped with high-tech goggles and a noise-cancelling headset.
Once the transformation came to a halt, Jake gingerly explored his modified body with a sense of awe and astonishment. "G'day, mate! This... this is unbelievable! I look like a blooming kangaroo-copter!" His laughter filled the room, a humorous blend of disbelief and enthusiasm. "I have to say, Pete. You really did pull off a doozy of a change!"
