With a swish towards the kitchen, Dan and Kat watched as several kitchen appliances floated into the living room, and onto a tile. Once they all were in place, they turned black or white, depending on the side they were on, and stretched upwards to take the form of the bishops and rooks, and Dan’s other knight.
“Now we just need the pawns.” Kat states, “but which room to use…” Kat looked between their parent’s room, Dan’s room, and the bathroom. “Well, Dan’s room probably has more stuff I can use so I’ll go with that.” And so, with another swish of her wand, Dan’s clothes, some books, his game console the game cases, flew out of his room and settled on a tile. And just like with the previous items they matched whichever side they were on and morphed into the shape of pawns.
With that, the entire board was now set and the game ready to begin.
“Wait, Kat why are you even doing this?” Dan asks with his stretched-out face.
“Because…”
