Paul found it hard to believe that the woman talking to him was not his mother. She was the splitting image of Mom but claimed to be Mr Dawson. However once he saw his own reflection the concept of this woman being Mr Dawson became very likely. Paul gazed at his reflection. It had changed a lot since he had last looked.
Staring back at Paul was an attractive blonde girl of perhaps 16 or 17 years of age. She had shoulderlength blonde hair and her skin was flawless. Her face no way resembled Paul's anymore. Even his eyes had now changed becoming a startling blue colour. The only thing familiar about the girl was the school uniform she was wearing. Paul turned side on and observed the girls breasts pushing out his sweater.
"How did this happen?" Paul found himself saying in wonder. The voice was soft and feminine.
"You tell me" was the reply from his apparent mother.
"Are you really Mr Dawson?"
"I am. Or at least I was" the woman replied.
"It must be something to do with that medallion" you found yourself musing
"Medallion?" the woman asked.
"Yeah I found a strange looking medallion on the side of the road. It gave me a jolt when it touched the clothes in the leotard box. I started changing after that"
"But how does that explain what has happened to me? I haven't touched any medallions"
"But maybe you did. Mom was holding it when you came and saw her earlier..... Did you feel something like an electric shock when you touched her?"
"I sure did. I remember it distinctly. I can even recall Mary making a comment about it"
"It must be magical..."
"Where is this medallion now? Do you still have it? Maybe it can change us back?"
"I think I put it back in my school bag"
"Well where is your bag?"
"Outside. On the seats, where I was waiting for Mom's class to finish"
"Well go and get it. Bring it back in here"
"I can't go out looking like this! I look like a girl!"
"You are a girl" Mr Dawson stated the obvious, something Paul was still in denial of. "You look like any number of female high school students. Go and get your bag and bring it back here"
"But my pants won't do up. I have fat hips"
Mr Dawson pointed out how to fix that. Paul's new waist was actually quite slim. The belt could be tightened so the pants stayed up. Only the fly could not be done up. However that could be hidden by untucking Paul's shirt so that his groin was covered. Paul no longer had any excuses. He poked his head out the door and surveyed that the coast was clear, although there was quite a commotion coming from the dance studio.
He raced across to his school bag and was relieved to see that the medallion was indeed sitting on top of his books. He picked up the bag and began to return to the toilets, only to be interrupted by the dance studio door opening and a herd of little girls coming out.
"Miss! Do you know where our teacher is? She has left us all alone and we have done all the exercises she told us to do" It was Katie doing the talking but there were 8 other girls standing behind her.
Paul realised the question was aimed at him or her or whoever he now was. He had last seen his mother fleeing to the ladies toilets, with her hair apparently changing. He put two and two together and realised that his mother had possibly been affected by the medallion as well. Most likely she was still hiding in those toilets. He had to think quickly.
