Ocean turned around, startled. At the entrance of the room she was chained in (courtesy of Anya) stood a dragon of very bright red color. He was male, from his voice. He was the one who'd spoken. Except he was very large compared to her, let alone the egg. She clutched the egg, knowing that if the red dragon attacked for good, she'd have no real means to defend herself. Uh-oh. Now she was in trouble. What did he want? Was the concern in his voice genuine, or was it an elaborate trap?
"What are you doing here? Who chained you up? Where are your parents?"
Ocean was too afraid to tell a lie and then face a dragon being deceived. Better tell the truth. She thus told her story in as few terms as possible, explaining that the egg wasn't even her younger sibling. Ocean felt confused and sad constantly and she really hoped she'd see an end to what she was forced to do. Being a dragon might be fun but chained and locked and left to do the job of an adult dragon... Well, that wasn't entertaining at all. The red dragon listened with attention. At least, it explained the pheromones and entire situation. But then, he was struck by another idea. He had a mate, a strong, big mate. A male blue dragon that he loved very much. But having hatchlings was not possible for logical reasons. Years ago, they'd adopted an egg and it was now a beautiful young male dragon. But his mate, Sky, was pining for other babies to nurture and take care of. Alas, finding eggs and hatchlings wasn't easy at all. Here was the solution to making his dear lover happy again.
"I can free you. I can burn this chain and you can go."
Ocean hesitated. Anya was gone and she wanted to just become human again. But the red dragon, named Sunset, was having none of it. He become cold and insistent, with a stern attitude. Ocean got scared and panicky. Sunset knocked her out swiftly with his tail. She'd get a light bump but nothing more. It was unfortunate and he did not like that, but he could transport her safely and without her struggling. The egg wouldn't require such precautions. He called for Algae, a green dragon who was stronger than him and that had come with him and the large dragon hoisted Ocean upon his shoulders, after breaking Ocean's chain. He had been waiting outside the cave in case any human arrived. Sunset just held the egg with much caution in his arms. As the three flew towards Sunset's home, he was glowing. His mate Sky would have a great surprise! Two new dragons to raise! Never mind that one had been human not so long ago. He'd hire a dragon magician's services to regress her, erase her memories or alter them. Sky would love this new company and as for himself, someone else to help and converse with was going to be very pleasant. Sunset smiled. His mate was such a big softie, in spite of his size and gruff attitude. A real mother within his scales, truly. Their little family was about to get new additions, and Sky's smile would return.
