Pyrona was rather at a loss as to how to act with this young female dragon. Any normal dragon would have given anything to be adopted by Nobles. Especially orphans. And these most certainly were, what with the little female and the egg living in a human hovel. This terrible human dwelling was obviously miserable enough, probably abandoned a while back. It looked derelict enough, at least to the eyes of a dragon. Pyrona reflected that this young female would have been orphaned a while back, which led her to settle in this awful human abode and then to care for her own little sibling by her own means. Over time, the shock must have been too much for her poor mind and she was now much too aggressive and perhaps partly delusional. Maybe she needed a proof that Pyrona's intentions are pure. Or maybe that little one required a few hours on her own to come to her senses. Yes, leaving her to her own devices would help her a bit and would render her joyful to see Pyrona again once she swooped in again to help her out. Then she would see that her kind heart was true and that she merely wanted to offer her all the love she possessed. And Pyrona had motherly love in immense quantities indeed. Especially for one as adorable as this little dragoness.
"You are brave, little one," she said softly. "But you are at no age to look after an egg, let alone a hatchling. You've done the best you could, I am certain of it. But this egg's, thus your sibling's, welfare is at stake. Let me take care of it."
"No! Don't get near! I'll take care of it!" snapped Karltin.
He had to make her go away! He had to make her leave and give him some peace and quiet! But how? He couldn't really tell her that the egg and himself were former humans. How would that big red and scary adult dragon react then? Not well, that was for sure and Karltin did not want to find out. But the red dragon suddenly lounged and snatched the egg from Karltin's coils. Karltin was too speechless and astounded to do anything. The red dragon then took off, saying she'd be back soon. Karltin was dumbfounded. What should he do now? The egg was gone and that big dragon promised she'd be back. And she seemed serious about it too...
