As a young man in his early twenties ambled throughout the magic store, he sees the cursed idol. He was skipping classes in college and he had entered this store thinking it was full of objects for foolish people. But when he saw the cursed idol, he merely saw a simple statue. And a funny one at that. This idol and the entity within it had sensed that Mark had as his biggest sin sloth and so to attract him and grant his wish by misunderstanding them on purpose, it had altered its shape. To fit the sin it was targeting in Mark, it now was the statue of a funny fat little man with a pillow in its arms and in old-fashioned pyjamas with a night cap. Mark found it hilarious and decided to buy it. It was only three dollars, after all. Of course, the entity had added its own price tag, cheap enough to attract and so entrap its unsuspecting victims in its clutches. After the cruel prank with the wish, it would get its own vessel back to the Magic Store, waiting for its next victim.
So Mark paid the few dollars, left and brought back the stature to his place. Well, his parents' place. He hoped his new purchase would cheer him up and make him forget his parents' constant criticisms about him not studying enough and not taking his future seriously. And about his playing too many video games and lounging on the couch watching TV. He was sick of it all, from his parents to his college courses that did not interest him at all.
"Man, I wish I could relax all day and never worry about work," he grumbled, flinging himself on his bed.
The fat little man which was supposed to be a statue animated itself and bowed, smiling widely.
"As a powerful ancient entity, see your wish granted, young mortal."
Mark's life then changed completely.
