Max felt cheated being an average guy. At 18, he had never had sex and though he tried to hide it, he always felt miserable that his looks were as average as the rest of him was. His muscles never seemed to really develop, no matter how much effort he put in working out, all of his tries at new haircuts at the hairdressers' ended up inconclusive and he never knew what clothes fitted him best. Everyone had a different opinion on that matter, at any rate. He was too bothered by his looks to put his best foot forward, meaning his charisma was close to zero. Max ended up as a consequence fantasizing about the famous male actors and models that made girls swoon each time they appeared. He wished for a harem of dedicated fangirls. Unfortunately, he had no talent to be an actor or singer. As a result, he could only imagine what he would do if he really was handsome. Oh, the terrific sex he would then have!
As he was walking aimlessly and pondering about his great desire, he saw the Magic Shop. He entered it, thinking that maybe he'd find there something to cheer him up. It was full of trinkets and objects, most of them truly strange indeed. Max did not believe in magic but if he could buy something cheap that would make girls notice him and talk to him, instead of lusting after his looks only, then it would be okay. Little did he know that in a corner, the statue of an ancient deity had taken notice of him instead. The deity inhabiting the statue had had many names, but one of them was Oray. Oray loved to play with simple mortals, and he also knew full well that of all desires, for males lust was the most powerful. For sex, they'd make the most ridiculous wishes! Women were the same for looks, if not communal life with a man they saw as their one true love. Oray magically made his statue take the shape of a curvy young woman very scantily clad to attract Max's attention and placed himself right where his eyes could not miss him. He added a tag of three little dollars to ensure Max would buy him too. And the plan worked. Max liked the idea of the topless woman in his room. What a great statue to have, and for such a cheap price! He returned home in a much happier mood. Oray had read into Max's mind most correctly. It did not take long for the young man to mumble that he wished he was irresistible to women and seen as being the cutest, the one with the best looks. Oray appeared in front of a terrified Max in a wispy shape and declared with an evil smile:
"Your prayer has been answered, little mortal."
