Katie didn't really see any reason to be walking backwards. Of course, she didn't even know what the game was about. So she may as well try it forward before she tried it backwards. She hit the up arrow.
'Begin walking.'
Katie got onto the treadmill and started walking. As she walked, the treadmill slowly tilted up and the belt started speeding up. It wasn't a sharp incline or a fast pace, but Katie soon started feeling a rush of energy. "This is like what Mommy does at the gym," she said as she kept walking. She felt proud to be doing something like a big girl. As she walked, she watched the virtual forest pass before her.
Katie was so fascinated by the moving forest she didn't pay attention to the age reading. As such, she didn't notice her age rate was speeding up. The seconds, minutes, hours, and days quickly became an unreadable blur. Only the months and years were still readable as they moved faster in time. Quite soon, Katie reached her 8th birthday before passing it and continuing towards her 9th.
The passing years soon became noticeable on Katie. She started growing taller, her strides getting longer as her legs grew. As she walked, her shoes became trainers more specialized for walking. Her green dress grew tighter on her body before the skirt wrapped itself around her lower torso. Not long after that, the dress split into a pair of green gym shorts and a tank top appropriate for the 10 year old she currently was.
It wasn't long after that Katie noticed the changes. "Whoa, I'm getting older," she said, noticing her age reader going faster and her growing body. She could feel her mind expanding as new knowledge started filling it. "This is awesome," she said. Now that she knew what was going on, she was eager to keep moving forward. Her steps became more lively as she kept walking upwards and growing upwards. It was hard to say how long she was going to keep walking, but her tank top will soon become a sports bra at this rate.
