She must have passed out at some point. Her head was a lead weight as Alice slowly felt consciousness returning to her body. Her eyes slowly opened as muffled voices swam about her ears. Eventually her full faculties returned to her, and she could finally make out the fuzzy shapes in front of her.
“Oh my! It looks like she’s coming too!” a feminine voice said to her left, “Hello! Can you hear me?” Alice tilted her head to the left and saw what looked like an orange haired anime girl in a lab coat staring at her with her big green eyes. She looked as flat and hand drawn as an anime character too, right down to having a visible outline. The sight of someone like that in front of her immediately made her heart jump and adrenaline to force her to her feet. She didn’t scream, but she did sharply inhale in shock.
“Woah! Hey, hey!” the strange anime girl held up her hands defensively, large visible sweat drop beading over her forehead, “I didn’t mean to startle you! What’s got you so jumpy, miss?”
“Wh-who are you?” Alice pointed a finger at the strange lab coated woman, “Where am I?” It was in pointing at the woman that she discovered that her own arm suddenly looked like it belonged to a hand drawn anime character. She blinked, bringing her hands up to her eyes to get a closer look. She glanced down at her body, realizing that she was also naked and not only that but her private parts were obscured by tiny beams of light. It was this revelation that caused her to scream.
“Oh no, what’s wrong?” the lab coat woman squealed, “Did your injuries not heal right? I didn’t leave you hideously disfigured did I?”
“WHAT DID YOU DO TO MEEEEE!!!” Alice shrieked, “YOU TURNED ME INTO A CARTOON CHARACTEEEERR!!!”
“What?” the redhead asked flatly, “Listen, I’m a brilliant doctor, but I don’t think I have the power to turn people into cartoon characters. You… did you hit your head during that fall you took?” The doctor lady stood up to walk around the newly anime-ified Alice. “Come to think of it, it actually looks like you’ve healed up incredibly well! A fall from the height you took would have atomized your bones, but there’s not a scratch on you! It’s almost inhuman, if I can be blunt for a second.”
“Excuse me, let’s back up a second,” Alice rubbed her temples, “What’s your name? Where am I? What’s going on?”
“Oh, uh, well you can call me Dr. Cillin,” the redhead in the lab coat explained, “You’re in a room at Dial City Hospital, and you’re here recovering from injuries you sustained from falling… out of the sky.”
“That… would explain your lab coat,” Alice said, “But… hold on. I’ve never heard of any place called Dial City. And what do you mean I fell out of the sky?”
“It means I saw you fall out of the sky,” Dr. Cillin repeated, “Well, more specifically you fell through some kind of wormhole in the sky. I can’t say for certain but could you possibly be from another world?”
Alice balked at that question. Another world? Wormholes? This all had to be some kind of strange dream!
“Sorry about your clothes, though,” the doctor apologized, “They were damaged beyond repair, but we were able to recover your personal items. We’ll make sure you’re all dressed before you leave. Hope you don’t mind having to root through the lost and found, although I’m not sure we’ll be able to find something to quite cover your uh… generous chest.”
“Don’t make jabs about my boobs,” Alice chastised, “but fine. Actually, could I make a bit of a request?”
“What sort of request?” Dr. Cillin’s eyebrow quirked.
