The second week of October started with Columbus Day/Indigenous People's Day, though not many Native Americans were undergoing conversion to celebrate it. However, there were a few things showing that Animalia and its colonies weren't immune to what was happening in the world outside, at least in some ways.

By this time, there was a large number of Russians in Lyre/Animalia due to the ongoing Ukraine War. There was, in fact, enough that they decided to create their own district of Animalia, similar to how the Asian people created their own district during the pandemic. As usual, the xenophobes and paranoiacs began shouting their conspiracy theories, but by now they were just making noise for any attention at all, even negative attention.

On the website, two of the more popular videos were the Quasi-Raccoon Cuties' coverage of Ryouiki Island and Miles' coverage of the 1950s fallout shelter that had been found by the ROSE House, and the things that were found in it.
In the case of Ryouiki Island, the Quasi-Raccoon Cuties not only covered the abandoned logging camp which helped explain its history, but they also showed a blueprint for the planned colony. Understandably, since it was forgotten roughly around the 13th or 14th century, this would require clearing several centuries of undergrowth. While most were understanding of this, there were a few environmental extremists who protested against this, but these were the usual "crazy people of the internet", so nobody really heeded them.

On a similar note, Miss Fabina was glad that she had gotten Wendy on board, metaphorically speaking, at Mieni Atoll. She would have gotten a chance to rest but instead, she got a call from Ami at Heiya Island. After enjoying some regular conversation between the two of them, Ami revealed why she had called. Apparently, while the "Geisha House" was pretty popular, there were still those who were looking for more than what the Geishas were allowed to do. Fortunately, Miss Fabina knew another friend who'd benefit from this, so she started a three way Zoom call with Ami and her other friend.

Finally, there was Miles' coverage of the fallout shelter. Not only did the video include what Miles found down there, thanks to Lizzie, who was both a Dimetrodon (the dinosaur that technically wasn't) and old enough to remember what life was like during the "Cold War Paranoia Age", but many of the things also found down there were identified, including a few things that would crinkle a few eyebrows today.
