But as you look at yourself in the mirror you see that your body is different indeed, and more than slightly. That's because the girl staring back at you from the mirror is a reflection you haven't seen in many years. You are a child again. A child that is ten or eleven at most! You're a fairy with the body of a female on the cusp of puberty. And if your appearance is that of your younger years, you can still spot some subtle differences. Your lips are plumper, your frame more delicate, your fingers longer and if your ears are pointed - no surprise there- your eyes are huge. Real doe eyes indeed, reinforced by your nose that is now tiny.
"I'm... I'm a kid again..." you stammer, at a loss for words.
"Yes!" exclaims Belle enthusiastically and clapping her hands in joy. "Aren't you happy? You are just the cutest thing now! And it'll be perfect for you to be younger and learn our ways. Many mortals are regressed to their younger years when they emerge from their flowers. You'll have a fresh body to get used to your new life! Isn't that neat?"
No. It isn't. You don't want to be a fairy and you don't want to relive your youth and puberty again! It was hard and embarrassing enough the first time! No need to have a second go at it!
"I don't want to be cute!" you shout in anger. "Change me back!"
"The effects of the flowers are irreversible. Young you've become, young you'll stay. Why would you want to grow old anyway? I find the idea strange."
"I don't want to grow up again! I don't want to be a little kid again! Puberty sucked enough the first time!"
"We'll make it better, the other fairies and I. I promise," says more softly Belle.
Then she adds, more sternly:
"But little girls like you shouldn't talk like that. It's rude."
"That's just it!" you scream in frustration. "I'm not a little girl and I'm not a fairy! Are you daft or something? Did you not hear me? I want to be turned back!"
Belle sighs but then looks at you with determination in her eyes, as if she's just reached a decision.
