the meteor had crashed into the mall. the people around at first heard an increasingly loud noise. the windows began to vibrate and crack. One by one they shattered starting with the glass roof above the fountain. by now people were holding their hands over their ears.
then a deafening boom was heard. a strange green cloud appeared from where the fountain was. now there was a semi-truck-sized asteroid in a deep hole. it had crashed through the metal supports for the glass roof. it now rests two feet deeper than the deepest sub-basement. the impact caused the green dust to quickly spread through the mall and parking garage.
while the people who were in the parking garage only got a small amount the people in the mall weren't so lucky. many of those in the garage ran away. unknowingly spreading the virus through New York. on October 15, 2023, a news crew had gathered in front of the mall. the CDC cordoned off the area as a possible bio attack from a foreign government.
men and women dressed in hazmat suits entered the mall via the garage as it had the least dust. once they entered the mall itself it depicted a darker setting. broken glass littered the floor. collapsed shoppers and staff were everywhere. soon they got to the very center of the mall.
they saw the hole the meteor came from and the one it now resides in. The edges of the hole were covered in melted material that glowed green. if it wasn't for the fountain then there would be a good chance the mall would be in flames. speaking of the fountain its busted pipes were filling up the sub-basement in sickly green water. steam began to dissipate from the meteor.
As it finished cooling down the dust began to clear. once the dust began to clear people began coughing as they woke up one by one. Everyone in the mall was quarantined and led to a nearby public gym. As there were so many they had to be kept there. after gathering a sample of the dust they found it to contain an unknown virus.
this virus could alter the genetic level of its victims. the time would vary but soon the emergency bio center was filled with former humans. sadly that was not the end of it. Several of those who had been in the parking garage had unknowingly spread the contagion by touch. thankfully a vaccine was made to remove this problem.
even so, they couldn't stop the spread of this new virus. as for the meteorite and the mall they were deemed a bio hazard. it seemed to warp the very mall it resided in. Glowing moss and mushrooms grew within. the interior of the mall aged to look 20 years older in a day.
The cobwebs littered the ceiling while thick knee-deep fog covered the ground. the impact area was now covered in otherworldly flora and fauna. the biggest question right now is what will humanity become.
