My Grandpa was crazy, but definitely had a mind for science. It had been 3 weeks since he passed away, and my sister and I were now in his basement sorting through his possessions and packing up various things. We had gone through about half of the stuff downstairs when I came across a small bottle. Looking around, I saw it had no label. It looked empty. I figured it was nothing.
I was setting it down on the table behind me when it slipped out of my hand. It fell to the floor and burst apart with a loud crash. From it, a huge cloud of powder sprang up and enveloped me. Whatever it was, I could feel it penetrate my lungs, my mouth, my nose. It dried my eyes out and got in my ears. It was everywhere. In seconds I blacked out and fell to the floor.
I woke up to find the cloud of powder had disappeared and saw that my sister was kneeling beside me checking to see if I was alright.
"Are you alright John? You gave me quite a scare."
"Yeah, I'm ok. What was that stuff?"
"I have no idea. You had a better look at it than I did I'm sure."
As I sat up, my head began to throb. However, that passed with time and I was soon back on my feet feeling close to normal. We continued to sort through my Grandpa's things for a couple hours more, then decided to head home for supper.

After helping my family with the dishes, my sister and I bid farewell to my parent's who were heading off on a two week cruise for their 25th wedding anniversary. My sister and I were to have the house to ourselves. This was going to be fun.
We had rented a few movies to entertain ourselves for the first evening. We were getting everything set up and some popcorn popped.
