How? That was all Darren could utter as he stared at the holographic image of an elderly Hannah. In his time, in an altered reality, he had fought the Boss and his army. The fight was grueling, the losses maby, but Darren had stopped him. All he needed to do was travel back through time and stop the Normal before they could change the future. That was the plan until Hannah revealed a secret of the Boss that no one saw coming.
"He can't die."
"What do you mean he can't die," Darren exclaimed angrily. "Hannah I killed him myself before we used the time machine. Yes he's a powerful sorcerer but he's human."
"He is human," Hannah said softly. "But he is much much more." Darren simply glared at the holographic image of Hannah. He needed answers, the Boss had been a thorn in his side since almost the very beginning. They fought, he plotted, and Darren overcame the odds. Even this latest plot by the Normal would eventually be undone. As Darren protested, Hannah simply shook her head. "Darren," she stated. "Do you remember hearing those stories about assassins trying to kill the Boss. Have you ever wondered why they never succeeded?" Darren nodded, just thinking the Boss was exceptionally skilled and powerful. Hannah shattered that idea though with one sentence.
"The truth us they did succeed," she said. "But the Boss is a chronological anomaly. Everytime he's killed, he immediately comes back with the memories of the last attack. That was how he was able to survive every elite special forces mission to assassinate him. They would kill him and he would, for lack of a better term, respawn. He would remember what killed him, prepare better, and get the upper hand. He exists as a singular point on the timeline."
"So what he's some sort of God?"
"Not really," Hannah stated. "You see he has a human lifespan. He ages like any man and will eventually die. Even with his magic hes not immortal. In 2323 he's been dead for over a hundred years. His magic and power are a blessing and a curse. He can never die the same way twice but time will eventually catch up to him."
"And since I killed him..."
"Bingo," Hannah stated. "A Catalyst won't be able to take him down. Even if its two Catalysts." Darren sighed, cursing under his breath. He was more powerful, he could match the Bosses skill, yet this power he had would prevent Darren from stopping him permanently. Even if he did, it would only be a matter of time before the Boss came back. "That's why everyone was so confused when we were kids on how he was able to resurrect the dead so easily," Hannah stated. "He in essence uses his curse to bring back the dead in near mint condition mixed with his skill as a necromancer."
"How do I stop him?"
"You're going to need a god," Hannah stated. "And I think you know who it is or should I say who they are. I have to be a bit cryptic. If I say who the Boss will be ready."
"I understand," Darren said softly. "But that might only stop him temporarily."
"You're right," Hannah replied with a smile. "See I knew you were smart. See the only way to permanently stop him is to clip him from the timeline and that's a skill you haven't quite learned yet. But you will, I have faith."
"And once I do?"
"Once that happens," Hannah said sadly. "You're going to be the guardian of the timeline and chances are we won't see eachother much anymore. If you do though, you can keep it so the Boss can never travel back in time again. Once that happens, things in your time should go back to normal and my time might get better."
"I understand," Darren replied stoically. "So, what happens to you now Hannah? Will you and this Trandroid be able to help?"
"Sorry can't," Hannah stated. "I gonna send this Trandroid into hiding but keep an eye on things. I already sabotaged the time machine so no one else can come back. Still, be careful and find Remy. He's a goblin and he's getting a bit tired of doing the Normals bidding. You find him and rescue him before the Normal figures out he's going to defect it will help. Otherwise the Boss will kill him."
Darren nodded, a small smile forming on his face as the elderly holographic image of Hannah wished him luck. As the recording ended the Trandroid now turned and walked in the opposite direction, leaving Darren with quite alot to think over.
