I chose to try my luck getting close to the blonde girl. Maybe as a former male, getting along with the boys would be easier, but since I was a girl right now, making some female friends was my top priority. Between the latina and the blonde girl, the former seemed to like makeup and fashion and seemed more difficult to get along with, so I chose to sit with the blonde girl which I felt more comfortable with.
As I walked through the bus, I received some looks from the other kids. Was it curiosity or admiration? or just appraising the new kid? I am not sure, but I am pretty cute if I may say so myself and I was prone to stand out.
As I got close to the girl, we made eye contact, and when it looked that I was going to take the seat next to her, she gave a small welcoming smile
“Hi, my name is Hana” she said just as I took seat
She had blonde hair reaching her neck and big caramel eyes. She was wearing a green tank top and a blue skirt that reached her thighs. I could see that she was wearing a bra because of the straps showing, and that made the lingering insecurities about me wearing one vanish and feel more relaxed. I made all these assessments in just an instant, and the bus started to move.
“Hi, my name is Dahlia” I responded, I already had a little script that I practiced last night. “I just changed schools, this is my first day”.
“Ahh, really!? I am new to this school too. My family just moved because of my parents' jobs so I had to change schools.” she replied quickly
I was planning to ask how the school was, but since she was new too, I had to throw my rehearsed script through the window, well at least we had something in common to talk about.
I said that I changed school because of a exchange program, but I didn’t go into detail; I already has the whole excuse rehearsed and approved by the doctors of the swap facility, It would reasonably explain why I am in ‘another family’ without exposing the body swap, but if I wasn’t asked I would not say anything, the less said about that, the better.
Hana told me where she now lived, and it was near my house, just 15 minutes walking; actually, I probably passed near her house during my jogging time. When I told her so, she said that she jogs quite frequently as well to keep in shape for her cheerleading activities. She was a cheerleader in her last school and she wanted to keep doing it in this school as well.
I started to think of more topics to talk about when from the back seat I could hear two boys loudly talking about the new game of the popular series Monster Reaper, one was the redhead that I saw before, the other just entered the bus. This was one of my favorite series, if I wasn’t so busy during vacations I would have bought the new release and tried it by now.
I suddenly became aware that our conversation had stopped, but when I looked at Hana, I noticed that she was listening in on the boys’ conversation as well.
“Do you play Monster Reaper too?” I asked her
“Mmm? ah, yes I just bought the new one; have you played it before?” she responded a little surprised
“I haven’t had the time to try the new one, but I was quite good with the last version”
We were both pleasantly surprised that we both knew the game, not only superficially, but in depth, and spent the rest of the bus ride talking about it. I thought that playing video games was a boy thing, but thinking about it, nothing says that a girl cannot play as well
