It was the day after Halloween already and Hailey couldn't picture herself dressing up as any kind of monster much less a character from a little kids show. Hailey walked down the hallways of S.P.E.A.R feeling a little bit lonely. Sure she had plenty of associates and people she kind of considered friends here now, but she was still missing her mother. She was hoping maybe closer to Thanksgiving or even the holidays she could ask Director McMillan to visit her mother in the vampire homelands.
"Meyers, there you are." Director McMillan said as she came around a corner holding an envelope in her hands.
"You've got a letter from your mother, I thought you might want to read it." McMillan said handing her the envelope. The envelope felt a little big, meaning her mother must've had quite a lot to say.
Hailey headed towards her room and locked it so she wouldn't be disturbed and could read the letter in silence.

Dear Hailey, I hope you're doing well at S.P.E.A.R, I want you to know that I am well here at Tepes Manor. I'll admit, I was pretty apprehensive when I first arrived here considering I was to work for a vampire Lord and Lady. Though over time, it's gotten much easier here for me.
Lord Wyatt deals much more with the concerns of his nation and people so I don't see him as much, though he does make time to check in on his five children. Yes, I've become a handmaid to some vampire babies or I guess I should say half vampire babies as they will grow and age. Lady Kyra is pleasant to me most as she sees how caring I am to her children, she loves them all equally and tells them each night that they will one day grow up and inherit their father's place as none of them are better than the other but all equal in their parents eyes.
As for everyone else, here they're pleasant enough, I did meet the two women who were at our doorstep again, it turns out they live in the manor, Cassandra and Duchess I believe are their names. Cassandra talks highly of her deceased father while Duchess does almost nothing but swoon for affection from Cassandra. The only other one who talks to me more than Lady Kyra does is Lancelot, I think you'd like him dear he is a handsome man.
(Hailey rolled her eyes at this mention)
Everyone else here is fine to me, though there is one little girl vampire who I try not to make too much contact with and that would be: Ann. Lancelot tells me Ann likes to do her own things a lot of the time and the things she does for Lord Wyatt isn't very nice. However she does show some sympathy for the Tepes children, probably because they're her boss's children. I've only made small chat with her once and all she ever did was stomp her foot once for 'yes' and twice for 'no', other than that, her face was mostly emotionless. I once asked Lancelot if he could tell me more about Ann or what she's like outside of the manor and I almost regret him telling me this.
Lancelot tells me not too long ago, they had some people outside the city who were trying to come into town to try and kill some vampires. Lancelot gave them a warning not to go any further if they valued their lives and to turn around and leave. There were 8 of them who tried to come in that time, but only three of them didn't listen and headed further into vampire territory. They had made it halfway through the older part of the country when they saw a little girl who looked like she was lost. They took pity on her and helped her find some shelter from the cold. Eventually the came to a derelict old abandoned church but before the three of them entered the little girl refused to enter and when one of them tried pulling her in, they saw her skin start to catch fire and burn. The cast her out from the church realizing she was a vampire. I don't need to tell you that the vampire in question was Ann. Lancelot heard them far away shouting to her:
"You better move along unless you want to be our first kill!" One of the men shouted. Ann stood up and didn't say anything. Instead she waited until nightfall when it got dark and the men made a small fire inside the church. Ann lit a few branches up like torches and threw them into the old church through the windows. The men were in a panic trying not to catch fire and ran to the front doors to try and get out, but Ann held the front doors closed for as long as she could with a grin on her face before she finally let go and the men exited the burning church their bodies still burning their flesh. One of the men saw Ann and grabbed her by the leg trying to burn her to death. The man was shocked to see Ann gripping the man's hand like she was enjoying it and Ann waited until their screams stopped and they were dead. She cut one of the men's bodies to make blood come out and smeared it on her face like a smile and walked away from the corpses with her usual emotionless face but a painted smile on her face like a clown.
I shall never anger that little girl in my life, and if you ever meet her Hailey, I hope you never do either. I do miss you and hope you can one day come and visit me in the Tepes Manor. I think about you every day.

Hailey hugged the letter from her mother as it was the first thing she'd gotten from her mother in months. She hoped that she would get to see her mother in the next month or so and maybe even see this Lancelot guy, out of everyone her mother mentioned, he sounded like a guy she could get along with.
