The Missing Ingredient

added by Liquid O A month ago AP BM S Clothes

Dr. Laila Eastly was a strange person even before the accident, she worked as one of the Normal’s best scientists, though she was forced to make biological weapons and genetic augmentations, her true passion was the study and understanding of other paranormal species. A passion that often left her a pariah amongst those at Normal. Though she disagreed with the organization’s decision to eliminate non humans she worked for them to get the chance to study these fascinating creatures.

Due to an accident with a virus from another timeline she was infected and became a Loli. Her hair turned pastel purple and her body had shrunken to that of a 10 year old, she had big blue eyes and cute freckles. Because of the virus any clothes she wore were transformed into pretty, girly dresses, with plenty of lace and frills. She wore one of these dresses and a lab coat that had changed: it now had poofy sleeves and frilled trimmings, and a big bow on the back along with a small teddy bear clip was clipped to the front pocket.

Currently she was working on a serum that would alter the brain chemistry and allow someone to be essentially reprogrammed. This would be useful to their organization and allow them to control others more easily.
But she was tiring of this project, she was missing a key compound: “Triglycindictetra”, a special chemical found only in small cave dwelling magical creatures. She looked everywhere but couldn’t find any suitable sources of the chemical;
-Some faeries lived in caves but not long enough to begin producing the substance.
-Trolls were too big and their weakness to sunlight meant the chideric acids would break down too quickly.
-Dwaves and gnomes were too similar to humans to be capable of producing it.

The only other creature that produced Triglycindictetra were goblins but the race was extinct. The chemical was the only one that could bond with the CSF without causing severe nerve damage.

“How are the cultures for the FV-75.3.1 coming along Dr. Eastly?” A plain looking man in a lab coat asked as he entered her lab.

“What’s up Chip?” She grumbled not lifting her head from the extinct species encyclopedia she was reading.

“I think you mean Chap, but my name is Dr. Chapman.” He said coming over to where she was sitting.

She sat on a lab stool with multiple books used to compensate for her diminutive height. FV-75.3.1 was a culture of a modified fungus that was supposed to impair a werewolf’s sense of smell but they were having a hard time getting it to not affect human senses as well.

“Are you reading the extinction encyclopedia? I thought you were supposed to be working on Project Runway? Not indulging in your hobby.” He inquired.

“I am, Chip. I’m looking for a species that might have produced Triglycindictetra, I need it to prevent the creation of enzymes that will cause nerve damage. I found one but the species is dead.” She responded.

“Have you tried synthesizing biotratic-triphotomain using blood cultures from a kelpie stomach?” He asked.

“I can’t, kelpie’s secrete most of their Tritizen when entering the water, the skin can’t retain enough microbiome to support biotiates.” She retorted.

“That’s why we use cultures.” the brown haired man replied.

“You can’t use cultures, a kelpie’s diet isn’t high enough in sucrose to allow biotratic-tryphotomain to bond to the glucose.” The Lolita corrected.

“I’ve looked everywhere and goblins are the only pure source.”

“What about using kobolds?” Dr. Chapman asked.

“No, their genetic mutations mean the Triglycindictetra has adapted to temperatures vastly higher than human body temperature.” She said and closed her book.

She jumped down from her stacks of books and headed towards the Project Runway lab, the mind altering serum.
She and Dr. Chapman entered and she brought up the lap and test reports on the formula.

“Amazing, how were you able to synthesize a solution that wouldn’t cause leach from the cytocidine?” He asked in amazement of hee brilliant formula for the serum.

“Using Dyphoids from succubus blood was the problem. Instead I used the human body’s spinal fluid to transmit the syrum, that way there would be no need for more than one injection.” She explained.

“That’s why you need Triglycindictetra. The enzymes are small enough to create bonds without triggering an immune response.” He said excitedly.

“But I can’t find a source for the substance.” She said frustrated.

“What about Remy?” Dr. Chapman asked.

“Who?” The little girl looking woman responded.

“He’s the new tech guy, brilliant. He’s the last goblin but a genius inventor.” He replied.

“What?! There’s been a goblin at Normal and I didn’t know?” She asked.

“Don’t you read the briefings or attend any meetings?” The brown haired young man asked with an annoyed expression.

“Come on, you can’t expect me to attend all of those boring things.” Dr. Eastly replied nonchalantly.

The Loli virus she was infected with had the side effect of making her adorably forgetful and childish, she didn’t have the tolerance to make it through something so boring and tedious.

“It doesn’t matter, see if you can get me a meeting with Remy. I’m sure we can work out some sort of arrangement, if he gives my a sufficient sample of Triglycindictetra, I can help him with something of his.” She planned.

“I’m not your secretary but I’ll see what I can arrange.” The other doctor said.
