In a black and gray swirling void, a figure emerged, a young woman. Alexa Cardin, 20, looked at her surroundings and was confused. She had no idea how she had gotten here, but also felt an overwhelming sense of deja vu.
"Where the hell am I?" she asked, with no response. She tried running in several different directions, but always ended up in the exact same spot. "What do you want with me?" Alexa screamed.
"You know why you're here." an unknown voice whispered.
"You'll never escape unless you accept your fate." a second, deeper voice bellowed.
"What the hell do you want with me?" Alexa asked again.
"You are very stubborn. This will be done again." the first voice replied
"Doomed to fail, doomed to repeat." the second voice said with a hint of glee. "You cannot escape what is coming."
The swirling void started to encircle Alexa. She suddenly felt the darkness start to close in on her. As she tried to run again, Alexa realize she was unable to move. With no other options, she started screaming as loud as she could.
-----------
Alexa woke up, drenched in sweat. She looked at her alarm. 7:24 a.m. "Fuck, I'm late" she muttered to herself.
Somehow, it happened again. For the sixth time in the last month, she had the exact same dream. Alexa had no idea what it meant, but she knew she couldn't deal with this for much longer. She quickly ran into the shower. As the hot water poured down her face, Alexa tried her best to brush off the dream. Tried, being the operating word. She knew that there was a reason this kept happening, and she wasn't particularly inclined to find out what that was. Still, she wasn't an idiot. "Something is waiting for me in there." she thought to herself.
Alexa quickly dried off her long, brown hair with a towel, and threw on a white tee, black hoodie, and black sweatpants. As she was tying her sneakers, she noticed the clock. "7:59." Fuck. She was gonna be late for her 8:15 creative writing course. She ran out the door, and started running towards Warner Hill campus. As she ran, huffing and puffing, she noticed something in the corner of her eye. She stopped and looked across the street. A pale, almost translucent man in a suit was looking at her...smiling? Alexa closed her eyes, and when she opened them, he was gone.
