Escape was the first thing on Bong-cha’s mind when they arrived at their new “home”. It’s true that the place was beautiful but it was all just a facade, this was a pretty cage. They were going to be turned into dolls, playthings to be used as their masters saw fit. But it became increasingly clear that they wouldn’t be escaping, at least not without an impossible challenge.
The girl couldn’t sleep, she had too many things going through her head so left her room and grabbed an acoustic guitar amongst the other instruments provided to them. She went to the wrecked living room and tuned the guitar, the living room was far enough away from their bedrooms that she wouldn’t disturb her friends.
Bong-cha slowly began to play an upbeat song about smiles and sunflowers. It was a stark contrast to the usual punk style she normally played and she would die of embarrassment if anyone saw her play the cheery catchy song so she only did so when nobody was around.
The song was taught to her by her mother when she was still human. It must have been 56 years ago, during the war in her homeland. Her mother would play it for her when she was scared, this was after her father had died in the conflict.
As she sang the uncharacteristically happy song she thought of darker things; about her friends and how they needed to find a way to survive in this place. As the song faded out she leaned on the guitar and began mindlessly plucking at the strings. It was times like this that she missed the taste of food and drinks, she was too young to drink alcohol before she was turned but instead of wanting vodka or wine she wanted the sweet flavor of orange juice. It was the last drink she had before becoming a vampire, it was a treat from her mom.
The red haired girl shook away the memories and set the guitar down. Walking over to the fireplace she started a fire and sat watching the flames. Bong-cha tried to steel herself to complete this mission, sure she’s no stranger to killing but it was always to survive and she always chose someone who she believed deserved it. This was different, these three targets were chosen by this crazy organization for reasons she couldn’t begin to understand. Whatever the reason she had to be ready for tonight, they had to go to New York and the three targets had to die.
The thoughts of death and killing brought her back to when she was made immortal:
Baek hyeon Kwan, the then patriarch of the Kwan Family, had found her alone and scared. She was crying over her mother when he offered her justice and revenge. Bong-cha was just 16 and didn’t know any better, she was blinded by grief and rage so she took his gift without a second thought. From that day on she was a vampire, her newfound power allowed her to take the revenge she sought and afterwards blindly followed Baek hyeon and his ruthless climb into becoming the strongest vampire clan in all of Korea. She even stayed with him after The Long Night, but things changed; the vampires seemed to become stagnant and lived in luxurious pomp and ceremony, and eventually she grew tired of all the ceremony and posh lifestyle and left to seek freedom and rebellion.
Though these memories happens many years ago they seemed a lot further when she saw where her reckless pursuit of anarchy had led her, Setepenre and Luca. They were prisoners in all but name and soon they would be sent on an assassination mission. Bong-cha was determined to see this mission through, she just hoped her friends were ready as well. She herself was a formidable former assassin, Luca was a beta from the Redwood pack, and Setepenre was the daughter of a death god so she was confident they all had the constitution to do what was required of them.
Bong-cha stood up and went back to her large bedroom, the sun would be setting soon and their mission would begin.
