With so much uncertainty, Kellie, Jack, and Ann felt a meeting with Mary Elise was necessary. Ever since the timelines began working together, Mary Elise had been noticeably absent from any meetings between the two groups of wizards. When pressed the young auburn haired woman simply stated she was busy. Kellie though wasn't buying that.
One of the perks that both Jack and Kellie had was connections throughout the magical world. These connections gave the pair more information than they could have dreamed, allowing them to gain an idea about the Normal and the One Humanity. It also told them what Mary had been up to.
Mary's actions in the war so far involved her acting as a ruthless vigilante. Operating away from the others, she began single handedly murdering what became known as recruitment teams. These teams were sent out by the Normal and One Humanity in order to bring additional agents to the fold. Mary, it appeared was stopping them before they started. Early on she had been sloppy, leaving behind the mangled bodies of her victims. Lately nothing was found but her residual magic was detected.
Mary's actions divided the supernatural community. Some saw her actions as necessary, others believed she shouldn't be judge, jury and executioner. Mary was killing people and their was always the slim chance that the people she murdered were innocent. Couple the fact that her attacks could lead to her capture and Kellie felt she needed to talk with her old friends. As the trio approached Ann could see a look of concern on her mother's face. "Mom you look tense."
"I kind of am," Kellie sighed. "Mary's actions are drawing alot of attention and none of its positive. The Normal are beginning to figure out what she's upto. Eventually their going to catch her and when that happens I worry about what will happen."
"Not to mention her ring falling into their hands," Jack added. "The last thing we need is our enemies getting a hold of her Ring of Change." Ann nodded, glancing down at the two rings on her fingers. She could understand everyone's concern. Ann's magical strength had quadruple when she came into possession of her second ring. If a powerful magic user were to gain Mary's, it could make them unstoppable. As they now approached Mary's apartment, they paused. "Did you hear that," Ann asked.
"Sounds like music," Jack stated.
"And other voices," Kellie added. "Someone's in there with Mary." Jack and Kellie now glanced at one another, a stern look upon their faces. Mary didn't invite company over, meaning that whoever was behind the door was most likely not a friend. Furrowing their brows, the young wizard and warlock cast a spell, forcing the door open in order to help their friend.
"What the hell?"
Kellie, Jack, and Ann now gazed in confusion at the person before them. The young woman was Korean, her hair a brilliant red with numerous piercings. Standing next to her was a teenage gurl around Ann's age with brilliant blue eyes. Both now appeared confused by Jack and Kellies arrival. "Who the hell are you," a deep voice called as he menacing gazed at the young couple. Jack and Kellies eyes now resting on a rather large man. "Set get out here we got company!"
Now Kellie and Jack were even more confused as they watched another figure enter their line of sight. Holding Mary Elise's purring cat Boots, they could see she was at one time a young woman. Now though, she was a mummy. "I'm sorry what in the world is going on," Kellie exclaimed in confusion.
"Whoa easy they're friends!"
Jack and Kellie now watched as Mary Elise exited from her bedroom. "Mary," Jack asked. "What the hell are you doing with a vampire, a werewolf, a mummy, and some teenage girl in your place?"
"Wait a werewolf and a vampire," Ann asked. "Dad how can you tell?" Jack simply smirked, pointing to his nose before looking at Mary. "So Mary what's with the monster squad?"
"I rescued them," Mary replied. "The four of them were targeted. These three were chipped and sent out as assassins against their will. I'm letting them stay here until all of this is over."
"Mary," Kellie sighed. "You can't keep doing this! You're lucky you haven't gotten yourself killed or them."
"Well I'm tired if just sitting around while we try to come up with a plan," Mary retorted. "The Normal isn't waiting! They're trying to kill us every minute of every day. We have to take the fight to them!" Both Mary and Kellies faces now turned red, the pair scowling at one another. It was Jack now who had to act as a voice of reason. "Okay listen," he said. "Look Mary I get it. You may have been right rescuing these four before it was too late." Kellie now turned her anger to Jack, the young warlock now trying to appease her. "But Kellie has a point. It's too dangerous, it's only a matter of time before the Normal spring a trap on you. You can't keep acting as rogue assassin."
"And that's why I brought them," Kellie stated, the young woman now motioning towards her guests. "Bong-cha is a vampire from one of the strongest vampire clans, Luca is a werewolves and has acted as these twos bodyguard for years. Setepenre is a mummy and you know how powerful they are, finally Lilith Kane is the sole surviving heir of the demon hunting Kane family. I'm sure you remember all the damage her dad did last year."
Kellie furrowed her brow before nodding. She was keenly aware of the Kane family, after hearing what Ezekiel Kane had done to some of her daughters friends last year. Obviously Mary had chosen this group for a purpose, she just hoped it wouldn't get them all killed. "Okay fine," she grumbled. "Maybe they can help but we still need to talk."
Mary Elise nodded, inviting the trio in as she closed the door. Kellie realizing she was about to learn the gruesome details of what Mary had planned.
