Roger was more puzzled than ever as he stood there, holding a glow stick for some strange guy's mystery experiment. His attention kept being drawn back to the doll. What kind of guy had a life sized and very realistic asian female latex doll? And what was it used for? Roger couldn't help but think of the obvious conclusion. He was about to ask more about this experiment when Roger suddenly felt dizzy. It only lasted for a moment, but during that moment he experienced the oddest sensation. "Wha... what the hell just happened?"
"What did it feel like?" Mark asked.
Roger was silent a moment. "This will sound strange, but for a second it felt like I was... the doll."
"That was exactly what was supposed to happen," Mark said. "This is my mind projector device, but it still needs more work and fine tuning."
Roger was so surprised and impressed he didn't think to be angry that he had just been used as a guinea pig. "This thing of yours switches minds?"
"Nonono, it projects a mind into someone else, or even something else, like Mai here," Mark explained. "Your body goes dormant, the target's mind goes dormant and you 'possess' that person for a time. Or if you enter an inanimate object, you still have active awareness. At least, that is how it will work when completed. For this prototype, the target must be in close contact with the special receiver."
"The glowing thing?" Roger asked.
"Exactly. But when I complete the advanced version, the 'glowing thing' shouldn't be needed anymore. The range will be near unlimited. However, it will take much time to complete. A couple of weeks at least."
Roger could recognize a good thing when he saw it. A device that would allow him to possess any body he wanted, or even project his mind into an object. So many possibilities! Roger became friends with Mark, and even though it might contain some risks, he volunteered to be the one to try out the finished device. Meanwhile, he started his classes and got settled into college life.
Later in the month, Mark had the final product ready to be tried. "You can project my mind into anyone anywhere and later restore it and they won't ever know, right? Or any object? And my body will be safe here?"
"That's correct," Mark replied. "You appear to have a choice in mind."
Roger's face flushed a little. "This might sound a little strange, but I want to be projected into and possess.... "
