Isekai Possession: Bearding the lion

added A month ago BM S O Magic

[Author Note: I realized that the author meant to say “Adrian was his housemate” instead of “Adrianis (an entirely new character) was his housemate.” I decided to change Adrianis’ name to Ambrose to distinguish him.]

“Stupid fool, disturbing me from my slumber,” Max snarled angrily, irked at being awoken by this lion.

Tapping into Max’s memories I learned that Ambrose was a colleague who also worked at the docks. And although the two didn’t converse much at work and were polar opposites, Max had found himself unfortunately having to room with Ambrose.

“Lets go back to sleep and leave this idiot to himself,” Max grumbled.

“Oh! Umm… yeah!” I awkwardly respond internally before beginning to lay back down. I pull on the old blanket as I cover myself back up. I decide to wait patiently before putting my plan into action however I find it moving faster than expected as Max instantly falls asleep. I can feel his consciousness fading as he drifts into slumber.

Giving myself a minute or two I decide to try using my powers once more. With a deep breath, I realized it would be my first time using my powers to leave my host, before I cast it.

A familiar energy surged through me as I felt myself recoil from the energy coursing through me. I assumed that I would be doing the process in reverse as I began to leave Max’s body.

Instead of placing pressure I was removing it almost as if I was removing my weight from my host. It did seem that procedure was following the reversal of what I had done before as I found myself doing everything in the opposite order.

I was moving from Max’s soul as my essence began to leave his body. Strange feelings coursing through me as I moved away from him, severing my connection with him.

I could see myself leaving his body as I slowly crawled away from him and on to the ground. Distancing myself. I called my energy back to me as I watched the luminous green and gold snake slither and return to me. Leaving the cube’s from the inner workings of the wolf

I felt my entire essence return to me as I finished leaving him. There was hardly and pain or feelings when leaving Max’s body. I could no longer feel what the wolf did as I had to leave behind any sensations felt with Max’s body with Max.

I was back to myself.

I sat on the ground feeling my body again. I glanced over my body and flipped my hands. There was nothing different to report. It was the same body I had my entire life. The process of leaving a host hardly gave any thrill or excitement as it was simply the procedure of returning to my original self.

Accustomed to my normal body there was no sudden changes or differences to be noted. I was just me again. I turn to face Max as he continued to snore, seemingly unaware of my lack of presence.

“Don’t worry I’ll be back Max.” I say internally, forgetting we could no longer communicate telepathically. After a few seconds this realization hits me as I feel a bit sad at no longer being able to converse with the wolf.

“I mean- I… I… I promise I’ll return to help you Max!” I think proudly, promising him strongly regardless if he could hear me. Hopefully I would return before Max even awoke from his deep slumber.

He seemed to be incredibly tired and hadn’t even noticed me leaving his body. I wasn’t sure if it was easier to leave a host that was unconscious or sleeping but I knew Max was worn out from the day’s events.

I couldn’t blame him. Attempting to end his life, becoming possessed, and dealing with plenty of revelations and relationship developments took a toll on anyone. Regardless if it was a beastman or a human. Besides, working an entire work shift could only have further exacerbated his fatigue.

I felt sad for everything Max had gone through almost bringing myself to tears as I watched him with sorrow. I could only hope me leaving his body momentarily provided him a bit of relief from the pressure of carrying two souls.

I wave him goodbye before crawling on to the ground. Now physical, I would have to be very quiet to not alarm Ambrose. The large beefy lion was completely unaware of my actions behind him and hardly noticed anything had happened.

Including the addition of a new stranger in the shack.

I shift myself forward, creeping with my hands as I reach the lion. My heart pounds madly in my chest as I feel fear and trepidation at my actions. If I wasn’t careful, I could be caught at any moment. And I wasn’t sure how Ambrose would react to suddenly seeing me.

I approach Ambrose just close enough for him to be within reach. Remembering the instructions on how to use my powers, I extend my index finger and touch the heel of the lion’s foot.

Holding my breath, I cast POSSESSION.
