The family all looked at each other. It wasn’t any of them knocking. Michael, now known as Angela, was in the bathroom. The other kids were still in the bedroom with her. 'Who could it be?' Sara wondered. She walked to the door. “Who is it?” she asked
Sara noticed none of her children had followed her into the living room. Neither had Michael reappeared. She was there alone.
“Hotel concierge Madam” Sara looked through the peephole. Sure enough it was a man she had seen earlier at the concierge desk as she checked in. He was wearing a hotel uniform. Sara opened the door.
“Yes?”
“I’m sorry madam. We seem to have made a mistake with your booking. We had you booked in the family suite with 6 people staying. As you are staying on your own perhaps you would like the studio room. It is a much cheaper rate. We have a garden room available with a spa”
“No there is no mistake. I booked the family room. There are six of us”
“Oh. I’m sorry. When do you expect your other guests to arrive?”
“They are here now. We were just having a discussion about bedrooms”
“Oh!” …The concierge was upset at himself for missing the arrival of the other guests. He wondered how that had happened. “I didn’t see them arrive. Have they collected passes?”
“Passes?”
“For entry into the theme park. There is free entry for guests staying at the hotel”
“Yes that’s what I booked. There was a special promotion”
“We issued you with a pass when you checked in. Your guests will also need to be accredited”
“Oh this” Sara fingered the lanyard around her neck. The girl at reception had given her a card with her photo ID on it. The card doubled as a room key.
“Yes. Each guest will need their own ID”
“Oh yes. The kids will want that. So what do we need to do? Go back to reception?”
“No need. I can come back in 5 minutes, with everything needed to accredit your family”
