Internally Jeff groaned, forcing a smile as Mikey and his friends now raced into the house. Once again he found himself watching a group of preschoolers until their parents got off work.
It wasn't that he didn't like the kids, they were sweet...mostly. Mikey was rather quiet, hos little brother sweet in nature but easily upset. The boy seemed to understand that he wasn't exactly planned considering the age of his mother and the age difference between him and his older brother. Still, Jeff did enjoy being around the sweet natured kid.
Anthony, Mikeys best friend, was a complete opposite. A bit of a brat Anthony was prone to tantrums if he didn't get his way as evidenced by the tantrum he thre when it was time to leave yesterday. Jeff though this was the reason his twin sister Stacy was so shy and quiet. The tiny black haired girl was a polar opposite of her much louder brother, yet Jeff found the girl adorable. He hoped that as she grew she would become as confident as her brother.
Rounding out this motley crew were Sharon and Lisa. Jeff could already tell that as Sharon grew she would be a confident, popular girl. Smart and assertive Sharon was a mother hen who would often times act as the ring leader of this group of preschoolers with Mikey piping in to agree. Jeff smirked when he saw Mikey and Sharon play, he could already tell the boy was smitten with the energetic blonde child. Maybe when they thw pair entered high school the pair would find their friendship blossoming into something romantic.
Finally their was Lisa, the comic relief of the group. The little brunette was silly, looking to make others laugh and never having an unkind word to say about anyone. Lisa got along great with the others, helping accent the better qualities of her playmates while diminishing the negatives. As the five children now sprinted for Mikeys room, Jeff followed poking his head into his little brothers room. The kids were fine for now, allowing Jeff a moment to himself.
As Jeff entered his room, he stretched. He had an upcoming project for school and had barely started. Hopefully he could get some work done today, Jeanette wouldn't puck up her kids for at least a couple more hours meaning he needed the kids to be quiet. As a beep now sounded from his laptop, Jeff raised an eyebrow. Curiously, he now checked it, his eyes going wide in surprise.
"Previous alterations will reverse in one hour," the screen read. At first confused, Jeff opened the Chronovac program as he now read something that shook him to his very core.
"Mikeys my dad," Jeff thought in alarm. That made no sense! Jeff recalled his father dying just after Mikeys birth, leaving Jeffs mom to raise the two boys. Reading through the action report of the Chronovac, Jeff was shocked by what he read. Mikey and his friends were adults yesterday, friends of gus father he inadvertently reduced themselves into preschoolers. None of this made sense. How did Jeff not remember any of this? What was crazier was the fact that in an hour Mikey and the others would return to adulthood.
Jeff now leaned back in his chair, his entire world shaken to its very core. He didn't have a little brother, his mom had left the family years ago only returning because Mikey was transformed into a 4 year old. If Jeff let transformation reverse itself, he would find himself in a house with five very confused adults. However, if he interfered, he could keep the reality he felt was so familiar. Jeff realized he could even alter a few things to make life better for himself. Perhaps make his little brother a bit older or make Anthony and Stacy's mom a bit younger. She was rather attractive, maybe she would be even hotter as the twins big sister. Rubbing his chin, Jeff realized he needed to make a decision, in less than an hour quite a fee changes would take place.
