Kira did not know which one to pick. There were so many! And all so delicately carved! Exquisite works of art that all beckoned her attention. Beseeched her hands to grab them, even. Kira's eyes and and head darted this way and that, bedazzled by each.
Then one truly seized her sense of wonder. It was the butterfly totem. It was more bedecked in fine gems and wonderful details than the others, it seemed. Appropriately, she went towards it like a moth towards a flame. And once she had taken a full step in its direction, she was ensnared. The totem knew it had her mightily caught in its clutches. Kira could only hold adoration. Each gem had been perfectly selected for perfection. The butterfly totem had hues of orange and blue that made it grace and beauty incarnate, with a myriad of other details inlaid, all of flowers and natural beauty. An ode to the world in a stage of authentic beauty. And its whole gorgeousness was truly impossible to resist. Kira seized it, delicately though so as to convey the respect she instinctively knew it deserved. She brought it to her bosom, so that when its magical essence rushed through her, she let it do what it wanted, understanding its purpose and fully accepting it. She'd be its glorious incarnation, and willingly so. The magic issued tendrils of delicate rope of silk which wrapped her and hoisted her towards the ceiling of the cave. Kira had merely been a caterpillar. Now was her time to achieve her glorious transformation. She'd emerge as a mammoth butterfly, of colors untold and ever-shifting. All humans were in caterpillar stages, according to the magical essence that had been contained within the totem. Teeming caterpillars hardly ever becoming butterflies and wrecking their environments. Now they would become butterflies, willingly or not, or die as caterpillars. Kira, the vessel of this drastic change for the world, would be the first and the one to unleash it. She would settle somewhere and offer the people that came to her in peace their transformation, wrapping them in their own cocoons until they emerged, forever changed and certainly happier. Their shapes would vary but all would carry at least one aspect of butterfly morphology. Some would come to her willingly, like followers of a cult coming to pay homage to their cherished deity. Others... Others Kira would kill or transform herself, ensuring their new life wouldn't be as pleasant or transforming their minds to teach them a lesson.
About two weeks, later, Kira did emerge. Or rather, what had been Kira. She was now a twenty-meter tall butterfly, slowly making her way out of the cave to let the bright sunshine dry her wings, still frumpy and dull. But all would change. Yes. She'd make her way to Polynesia, on a secluded island and from there start altering this world so disgustedly filled with caterpillars. Besides, being adored as a goddess flattered her vanity very, very pleasantly. And she'd deserve it too, being a very benevolent goddess indeed. Yes, the fall of mankind was a hand. Another dance of events was about to commence. Time to allow the fall and butterfly ball to dawn and usher in a new, much anticipated, age.
